I had a SD card error once. If I'm not mistaken, "SD Card Error" or something similar was displayed on the display. Do you see the error displayed or does it appear the scanner is not powering up?

I've had two SD card errors where the scanner just shut off without warning and the scanner wouldn't power up until after the cards were removed and replaced. There seem to be a fair number of variations of this error, I guess depending on the exact failure point on the card.

I've had a couple where some Start Up configurations wouldn't load properly, and some that displayed the SD Card Error message.

I've taken to keeping a spare programmed SD card in my truck, just in case.

Some card errors will prevent any display or backlight. Removing the card will give with the backlight and a card error message.

I have ProScan 8.0 on my WIndows 7 machine. And I have the Wi-Fi on my 536HP with an IP address now of 192.168.xxx.xxx. I trying to figure out now how to get ProScan hooked up by Wi-Fi. I can't seem to find anywhere to set the program to monitor over my WiFi connection. Still works great over my rear serial port. Disconnected that, but still nothing. Any help appreciated. Thank you.

OK, I just found URL setting under Comm Port in the menu. So have that working. Seems to work fine. But now have to figure out how to hear audio. Do you still need VLC for this, or can audio be sent via ProScan? Thanks.

You can monitor audio via Proscan too. In the audio tab for recording, set audio to URL and specify the appropriate URL with your IP address of the scanner. Under the monitor and test tab, select record as the source and check the loopback box.

Thank you very much. Followed your instructions and seems to be working very well. Also, thanks to Bob (at ProScan) for all your fine efforts with this great program.

Where can I go to have a look at that? ProScan is lovely, but accessibility with screenreaders isn't 100%. I don't want to re-invent the wheel, but knowing a few things and how they work might help me build a better interface for some functions with which I have trouble with the ProScan interface. Let me be very clear on this: I *LOVE* ProScan; my screenreaders do not. :)

ARC Wont Remote Control BCD436HP After Card Fixed

Hi,

My ARC will not do Virtual control of my 436 any more after the card indicated it was corrupt.

When I removed it the computer showed the card to be in perfect condition.

After several tries I reloaded the software and then reformatted it until the 436 would read it.

Several times it came back and said it was corrupt and I did the above again.

Now it is working some it will let me update it with the Sentinel and ARC Pro.

It will not let me control it remotely any more though.

I have tried it on the Windows 7 and Vista which it has worked with in the past without any problem.

I also tried it on the Windows 8.1 but the and it did not work there. Since I have never tried it with the 8.1 the results from that test are inconclusive.

I did not change the wires on the Vista when the problem started and when the 436 and its internal card got along again I hooked them up.

The wires had not been removed and were hooked to the computer just as they were when the ARC could virtually control the 436.

It will not control the scanner any more.

The Vista has a real DB9 COM port and is dedicated to the scanner and nothing else. There were no changes made to the computer while the problem was going on.

It also use to work with the USB ports on the Vista too.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

The 396T still works with the Vista USB and COM ports without problem.

======================
There is also a new problem.

If I do any work with the 436 on the Vista now with the ARC or Sentinel program the ARC program for the 396T stops talking to it and I have to reboot the computer to get it to work again.

Before the 436 had the internal card problem the ARC for the 436 and 396T ran together without any problems.
=====================
Any ideas?

Best Regards
Sincerely,
Ted

Every once in a while when I do an update or reformat an SD card, I have a similar problem using the virtual control. In my case, twice, it was because the baud rate settings went back to 4800 and did not match the ARC software rate. Perhaps you have already checked this. If not, go to:
Menu: Set Your Location, Set up GPS, Set Serial Port, and set the baud rate, usually to 115200.
