My BCD536HP is now asking me for Year day time hour min. every time I do an update or reset. It never did this before and I wonder what is wrong.

Thanks

That was a common problem with the real time clock failing. The firmware was changed to eliminate the necessity of entering the time when you turned on the scanner. Update the firmware. In the updated firmware, you are given a few seconds to enter the time. If no action is taken, the scanner will continue to load and scan normally.

There was a repair campaign a few years back by uniden to fix that issue... But thats long gone...
As @tvengr said... Update your firnware... There was an update in one of them to let it bypass the clock setting when booting up... As in no need to set it first...

The clock is really only used to Time and Date stamp recordings to the SD card...
If your using that function... Then you will have to set it...

If you turn the scanner on and wait a few seconds (I think it's like ten sec's), does it skip the time/date setting and boot up?

Your first comment "Yes it does skip", tells me it has the firmware update to bypass the clock if the clock batt is depleted...
Your second comment tells me that at times the clock battery may have enough charge on it to boot the scanner straight away...

Did you try leaving the scanner powered on for like 48 hours before shutting it down to fully charge the clock battery...
Under the above procedure, turning the scanner off will only hold the time for about a week. Any longer and you have to repeat the above...

Did you bye this scanner new and/or how long ago?

The clock battery charges only when the scanner is on. The scanner must be on for 50 hours for a full charge.

Read my post again "powered on for 48 hours"...

" Did you try leaving the scanner powered on for like 48 hours before shutting it down to fully charge the clock battery..."

You have the latest firmware...

Leave the scanner powered on for a couple of days to charge the clock battery...
Just turn the volume down if you don't want to hear it... Then see how it works for you...

Remember, the clock battery only holds a charge for about a week when the scanner is not powered on...

That is the same version I have in mine. I sent my 536's to Uniden years ago when they had a repair campaign to take care of the clock problem for free. There were also problems with a dim screen and noisy audio in the headphone jack in the early scanners.

@tvengr, I think he bought this scanner new recently... Could be wrong though...
When he said he checked his firmware Sentinel told him it was up to date...
Older scanner may not of had that version in it yet...
That firmware version is only about a year old...
