I have had my BCD996P2 for 9 years and just learned something new about it this week.
I have used the volume offset setting before but always to reduce the volume of certain channels that were too loud. Last week I set a positive volume offset for a new channel I added because it was a little lower in loudness than most of the others. This positive offset seems to override the main volume control as well. With the volume control turned all the way down (at 0) the channel with the positive offset can still be heard. It's at a low level but still can be heard across the room. Is this normal? I would think that with the volume knob turned down to zero no sound should be heard no matter of any offsets made to any channels.
Just wondering if anyone else experiences this? When I'm on the phone with an important call, I usually reach over and turn the volume all the way down on the scanner. Now I can still hear the channel with the volume boost.
