I have a bcd996t base scanner with a discone outside antenna i bought at Radio Shack hooked to it attached to my house on the eaves. My question is about the reception pauses, when i recieve a transmission on all channels ther is a pause when someone is talking for a couple of seconds and this happens about every 4 or 5 seconds during every tansmission on every channel. Is this normal or do I have something set wrong?Any help would be greatly appreciated,Thanks, for any responses.

In the settings, you have a scan delay for systems & also for trunked sites. the delay for systems, delays the scanning to the next site by what ever you have it set for. The delay for the sites, does the same for the sites. I set both to 0 secs, and it seemed to speed mine up more. There is a thread in the bcd996 section that explains it a little better.

BTW the setting for the sites is listed as "hold time", as an option listed under your sites options.
For the system is listed as "delay time" under your system options.

You may want to set one at 0 and the other at 2. Or vise versa, you really have to find what works for you with what you want for your needs.
Just play with it. Same goes true with the AGC tweak setting for the auto gain volume difference(if you have any) between analog and digital.

With put it, the analog blows me away, while the digital is not as loud. Changing those settings will help if you experience that.

You might want to read this

for a little more info on other things as well.

Enjoy

The pauses while someone is talking is most likely due to the WX setting or Close Call setting.
If someone is talking and they cut out every 4-5 secs, cut those off.

I guess i mis read the question. Its late.lol
