I recently acquired an old BCT7 on a trade. Seems like a solid unit but my only complaint is the super annoying series of three startup beeps at full volume when you turn the unit on. Why Uniden engineers felt it necessary to wake the dead, not once, but three times when you turn it on is beyond my comprehension. I figured out how to lower the beeps to a slightly more reasonable volume but it can still be quite irritating.
Best solution I've found was a post from several years ago that recommended inserting a plug into the speaker jack and turning it on, then removing it once the illogical beeping stops. This isn't the most elegant solution but it works. In recent years has a better solution been found? Thanks.
