I am just getting into the scanning hobby and currently have a BCT8. I have had hell trying to program it (need to understand 'talk groups' better) but was wondering, I have noticed that I can sell the BCT8 for almost what it would cost for a BCT15.

I was wondering if any one had an opinion on this.

BTW I am in Houston.

seems to indicate that the BCT15 has text tags, and text tags are good! That was one reason I sold my BCT8. I have never had a 15, but I know it has a lot more memory and other features than you have now.

The question I would ask is do you need digital capability yet? Check the Database for your area in Houston. Current local digital includes the P25 system, highway patrol, and federal. Also note that in a few years the P25 trunked system may begin TDMA P25 Phase 2 (not monitorable on today’s radios).

My advice is to upgrade if you can and I know you will enjoy the dynamic memory structure of recent Uniden models. And, if you particularly like the BCT15, please have a look at the new BCT15XT and compare the features and price of both:

Good luck and happy scanning!
