I have just obtained a really old scanner. It is the Bearcat 220. I bought this scanner from a thrift shop thinking that it wouldn't work, but would be a really cool collectable. I plugged it in and to my surprise it made static noise. I have been reading, but cannot find enough information. I need to know how to get it to work. The major problem is that it doesn't have an antenna at the moment. I am using a metal clothes hanger. How can I fix my problem of my scanner not hearing radio chatter/scanner chatter.

Thanks

well it depends where you are located as to what you are able top receive. I believe you can located a owners manual on line. First , for receive, input your local; wx frequency to see if the radio is receiving. Then go to RadioReference, go to the database and check out frequencies that are available in your area
. Go here for a manual, https://www.manualslib.com/download/184958/Uniden-Ubc220xlt.html
