Beaver County P25 Transition

Looks like the expected cutover of existing VHF frequencies to P25 occurred this week.
All primary and operations channels are now P25 conventional with the exception of fire dispatch (154.250), presumably due to the QCII paging it supports.
All police channels are also encrypted.
EMS 154.340 is coming in just fine in P25 on my old PRO-96.
The Broadcastify feed for Fire and EMS was upgraded and is back online.
I'm sure there is someone local with much more knowledge and expertise who will hopefully share more. Thanks in advance.

Ok should be all updated now, just in time for the next Uniden update.

Note that the new P25 conventional repeaters are all CQPSK simulcast, so YMMV with non-SDS scanners.

So Beaver Co goes facist with "E". Not as great look with all the issues various PD's have had in the county just over the past decade. Hide the corrupt cops.

Locals should keep an ear on 173.300 and 173.375 also. They are on the same license as the new fire tac 3 but unaccounted for as of yet. Also interestingly, they are using the channel in analog yet are only licensed for P25 operation. Lots of license issues when you start digging around.

Also FYI the common repeaters aren't new but were just never listed. They never used to get used. We'll see if that changes.

Monitored South PD operations (Monaca) on the 154.295 Public safety channel last night. Seemed like routine traffic, conventional P25 non-encrypted.

Something about the common repeaters smells. Same input/output frequencies for all locations, AND a separate and unique "output" DPL for each location? Isn't it much more likely those those DPLs are input DPLs to trigger each repeater to transmit? That's seven repeaters with the same output frequency in the county, each with a different output DPL. Fishy for sure.

Some of those repeater outputs were entered wrong. There are three repeaters on 151.0175 (Harmony, Midland, South Beaver) and three on 151.1075 (Brighton, Hanover, New Brighton). @redbeard you wanna correct those when you get a chance?

I was well aware that there were two different output freqs, and was fully ready to ream someone for thinking I transposed the numbers on the three and corrected them to all be the same. But apparently the lateness of the hour and the fact I was cloning the entries from the previous caused me to be the one at fault. Good eye for catching that guys. Those repeaters have been around since narrowbanding and even as a firefighter in Beaver County I couldn't tell you why they did it. They were never used but were in all of our radios and are in the current channel plan.

Sadly look at skook but that was a back door thing and Fire and EMS pushed to remove all their E but the radio shop who got the job never included OTAR so the radio shop said it would cost too much to remove.

I can 100% confirm the skook has OTAR and OTAP, greens just refuses to be out of control of anything.

Interesting. They told fire and EMS at a meeting they couldn’t do the removal of E because they would have to touch them all. That’s why their scanner feed is based out of their center.
