With the current sanctions in place, would I be able to purchase this radio from Alex’s website with my credit card and get it shipped to me in the US?

Well, I had to go through a bunch of hoops and hurdles, but I finally got an order confirmation. Now I have to patiently wait for my new toy

Mine sat in customs awhile before coming to USA. I’ll check my emails to see if I can find when mine shipped and when it was delivered.

From looking at my emails, took a little over a month from the date it shipped out. Allot depends how fast customs processes it.

yeah that sounds about right. Alex is a good guy and does answer emails with any of your questions. I ordered one about a year and a half ago and it took around 6 wks to get it. great radio! I'm using a MLA-30+ Loop and it does a fine job with it and the rest of my radios also. I live in a subdivision with rules so had to be discreet with an antenna.

I use mine for when I go to Cozumel. Didn’t want to take a chance bringing my R30 and it get confiscated. No problem last year taking it there. Nice small package. Very sensitive. Have noticed how well it receives sitting in my living room with just the antenna. Almost as good as my R8600 with a wire. Battery life is great. Taking it again to Cozumel in a couple weeks.

That was fast. Our customs isn't the greatest but hope you get it soon. You will want a good pair of head phones/ear buds.

Been playing with mine a bit here in Cozumel. Am getting strong tones that can’t decode. Tried all modes. It’s a solid continuous tone. Came across a few of them. Was picking up CB from Kansas City and Louisiana yesterday late morning on AM. Love this little radio. Might consider bringing my R30 next trip. Just afraid it will get confiscated, which is why I bring the belka.

It would help if we knew the frequencies of these 'strong tones'....haven't heard about any birdies with the Belka...Mike

While it's not out of the realm of possibilities that there's something amiss with the radio, did you move away from where you hear these tones? Did they weaken or go away completely? If that's the case, then it's good old RFI.

As I pointed out here and a few years earlier here, the Belkas (like most super sensitive allband radios and particularly SDRs) do have birdies. Most of them are very faint, a few are louder, some move away if you tune 100Hz to either side and many can only be heard when there's no antenna attached, which is why this turned out to be a bad method to assess how many birdies there really are when I wrote the reviews.

However, in 4 years of intensive usage of all Belka models for ham, utility, some broadcast and now MW DX with the v3 I have yet to come across a birdie actually getting into my way. The first iteration (Belka DSP) had a substantial birdie in the 20m band but this got fixed in the Belka DX.

I was sitting on the beach around 11 am when I heard these. On am, 1 MHz either way the loud tone would disappear. On both USB/LSB the tone was loud on both sides if the frequency depending which SSB i was on. Going to try again this morning and write down the frequency. Next trip I will bring my R30. Would be nice to have a waterfall display. am still considering the DSP2 with that nice waterfall display.

The Belka has a waterfall display. You just have to connect it to a computer. I posted about this in another thread
