I heard one of the big "E" Killeen talk groups yesterday. I heard quite a bit of Bell County SO. Finally, I heard Temple PD C-C in the clear, as indicated.

TPD TLETS 50499 is still clear.
KPD is no longer patching 50289 to the new ENC TG 51351.

I was gone all week.
I think the ENC will be switched on for all the other sooner or later as well.

Doesn't even make sense to keep it Clear.

If they're going to encrypt stuff. I don't see them doing Partial.
But I don't have any more info then you do on this.
We will just have to see.

For now we can still listen to FDs.

I am seeing the same Patch setup like they did for KPD on LE1. (and KPD Patch is no longer active)

Sooo....I think 50497 LE1
New ENC TG will be 51315.
Currently being patched along with one of the 65xx's

Anyone that's actively monitoring esp with Unitrunker or something along those lines.
That is what they seem to be doing for a day or two right before the switchover to the new ENC TGs.
Patching the new ENC TGs with the Old Clear TG.

If Temple & Killeen dispatch were eliminated leaving most of the other LE alone, I would be a happy man. Most of the time, I turn off Killeen dispatch. I prefer listening to the good stuff.

When I am looking at Temple PD in the RR DB, I am seeing three "T" talk groups without any "E." I am sure this is premature, but I am trying to be hopeful. Like I said, I heard & recorded KPD OCU after the "E" date of activation. I will be returning to Temple today to see if I can hear anything. I hope Bell SO stays in the clear.

Of course, by not having dispatch channels for Temple & Killeen, crooks could not monitor an online source. Since tactical talk groups are disallowed, maybe these will be left alone. The person with the scanner app would be left in the dark.
It’s been a few days since I checked the radio but last time I was looking, all LE TG’s were pretty much dead, they all went to the 6’s unencrypted for now. They are currently doing what they do to all EMS/FIRE call outs and airing them in the 6’s.

I heard quite a bit yesterday, mostly Bell SO. I heard KPD car-to-car, Temple and Killeen Tac 3 and several others.

I have been following a talk group for quite some time.

I heard the talk group yesterday in Temple. I believe this is a phase II talk group. I cannot read fast enough to see what is after P25, but it looked like P2 after P25. I also heard the sound of encryption coupled with the talk group alert going off. I don't usually get that digital sound unless it is Phase 2.

Don't get discouraged on this little boy. It is used on a fairly infrequent basis.

Here is the talk group: 50389. I have been monitoring another tactical talk group which has been in the clear. I also heard KPD OCU again during the past few days. Some of my unidentified talk groups originated from the time period when Temple PD was seemingly unaware that PV was being offered as an upgrade. I believe this talk group is one.

When Bell P25 was initially started, I converted all of the EDACS talk groups using the 50+ method. However, I have yet to find the aforementioned talk group on the Bell P25 page.

I will be heading down to Temple later today. I will do some more frequency fishing.

Well, HOTRRS was sure wrong when they put the "E" on the WPD Administrative groups.

I don't know where encryption will surface in Bell County.

In the past, I heard federal agents talking on the system in Waco when there was a site near Waco (TxWarn). They were talking about how to find an encrypted repeater.

I thought most Motorola radios came with a "E" switch.

Question: When systems are encrypted, do they have to service each and every radio?

Not sure how much help this would be. but I used AI to group all of the Radio ID's with TG number and channel names, could be a good way to track what is what with encrypted channels. Bell Co. 5 day Log (Google Sheets)

I have personally not seen any 503xx or 513xx in the Clear.
Not saying it doesn't happen. But my guess is those are meant to be full time ENC
Maybe accdidental switch off ?

Since they are also creating new TGs for ENC, I'm guessing its so they can go back to the clear ones easily for whatever possible reasons

Also it appears all or most of the Old TAC TGs are still Clear and in use for now.

The ones I have Unidentified that are ENC with the most Hits are
TG/Hits
51 301/96167
51 303/10119
51 305/684
51 309/11506
50 389/4823

10849101-10849117 is 'Comm Center'

How did you do that?

Export from UT.
Need to work on this to make it easier to read.

I had the AI ignore those source id’s on some other stuff I’m trying to do with the data. I have them listed as dispatch console. I’m using trunk-recorder. I logged everything for around 5 days, threw it in ChatGPT gave it a bunch of instructions and had it generate files from the log.

If you have pre encryption logs, I can hopefully use those to get the encrypted talk groups sorted out.

So far, I have heard a great deal of Bell SO, but I have yet to hear the following since these changes started: Belton PD Dispatch, Harker Heights PD Dispatch; Morgan's Point Dispatch; Nolanville PD Dispatch; Salado PD Dispatch.

I also heard Killeen PD Dispatch on talk group, but did not make note of the number. I thought I'd activated the recorder. I have heard car to car talk groups on KPD as well as TPD.

I ran across this old plan for this area. Yes, I realize it is old; however, I don't know if this plan is still active, delayed, or scrapped. My little brain could not possibly understand the density of information contained in this document. I believe I saw a similar document from a communication plan in the Texas Panhandle, combining communications.

So, someone, please help shed some light on the salient features that apply to the current changes in Bell County, if applicable.

I think all of the COGS did the same thing, may have been the same time period when a certain person at DPS had his hair brain idea to take over all the PW licenses and somehow tie them all in with his master statewide trunked system...thankfully he is gone.
No telling how much money has been spent on this stuff with these 'consultants' to bring us these fine pictures of generators, radios, towers, etc lol.

Thanks, I really needed that laugh. Some folks are like a toy train on an oval track. They just cannot get out of the groove. Was he on a mission from God? Well, now that I have had a great laugh, let me ask this.

Is this another version? If I am not mistaken, when I programmed parts of the Texas Panhandle, around Tulia, Plainview, etc., I encountered some references to these VHF frequencies/channels. I programmed them, but have not been up past Hale Center in quite a while.

So, is this one of those projects of pretty pictures, Power Point presentations?

Again, thank you for the laugh!

As of today all I’m getting with any regularity is DMR stuff, KISD, buses and a few schools. I do still get the occasional transmission from Temple EMS 2, but that’s it. No LE at all.

The TGs I have marked as
BCSO TLETS 50502
and TPD TLETS 50499
Are still showing up Clear.

LE1 (50497) is showing the weird patch with 65x and 51315/50497. (Unitrunker)
So....my guess is 51315 will be the ENC TG once they stop the patching business. (like they did with one of the other TGs).
Guessing all of the Radios haven't been updated until then they will continue doing it. (someone else with more system knowledge might know why they do that)

TPD Car to Car pops up sometimes. 51194
