I live about 25 miles east of the Berks County line. I can monitor the county dispatch on 155.0700, but cannot hear any of the responses from the units themselves. Is the above the correct frequency?

That is the correct freq., and they are on a repeater so you should get both sides of the conversation. I get them all the way down to Doylestown on my mobile radio.
Do you have an outside antenna?

I don't think he is actually hearing Berks -- because yes, they are repeated and you would be able to hear everything. If you can PL it, do that -- and then if you don't hear anything, then you weren't hearing Berks.

It is definitely Berks County dispatch that I am hearing with all their "security checks" ,check your MDT" comms, general dispatches etc. I'm probably about 35-40 miles east of the Berks County line.

You can double that. I am not quite certain where the Berks County line begins. I live about 25 miles east of Kutztown; Reading would add another 10 miles or so. Before Reading was digital and encrypted, I never heard them. However, I seem to have no problems receiving some comms from Philadelphia or Northern New Jersey.

I am positive you are hearing Berks County, I have picked them up in Harrisburg, Philadelphia, Gettysburg, and in New Jersey. Almost all mobile units do not go through a repeater, that is why you do not hear them. I know there was two regional repeaters, one in the Bethel area, and one in the Kutztown area. I am not sure if both are still active. I believe the units in the Kutztown area are now using 155.250 mostly.

Yea, Berks has a pretty nice setup. They have a nice antenna up on a water tower -- I think that is the Kutztown repeater. Sometimes you can hear it for miles and miles away when conditions are good.

Thank you. What a thoughtful act on your part. I assume when they reference "Berks" they mean the county system. Can anyone provide the frequencies for the following?:

Berks Police - P1 (155.0700 ?)
Berks Police - P3
Berks Police - Car to Car

One day I may actually get close enough to hear a unit respond to a dispatch on my scanner.

Yes, that is correct "Berks" means the county System

P1 = 155.070
P3 = 155.250
Car to Car = 154.725 (This is not used as much as it used to be, most units now switch to local frequencies)

Anyone that has tried to reach to Berkslive.com, be advised the site is up and operational. There is a technical difficulties with their domain name provider and you can not reach the site by using using the berkslive.com domain name. They have setup an alternate address until this gets fixed.

The alternate address is: berkslive.ms11.net

Berks County Police "P-1" (155.070) is not a repeated channel, only simplex. Some individual departments have repeaters that output on 155.070, but these are local coverage only and not county wide.

The "Regional" Police frequency (151.220 output) is a repeated PD frequency. It was formerly a Berks County EMA repeater which was kind of taken over for police use due to overcrowding on P-1.

Like 155.070, 155.010 (P-2) is a simplex frequency used for running plates and other seconday traffic.

The correct PL for 155.070 and 155.010 is 91.5.

Hope this helps.
