Does anyone out there have a recommendation for a good pager/scanner for CApe Cod Fire depts?? I know some of the towns work thru a State Police program. I am not tech savvy, just want to monitor a few towns near Hyannis Mass thank you for advice.

A lot of the Cape FDs do use UHF for paging and some simulcast (check Radio Reference). You can listen to those channels with any non trunking scanner. If you want to hear everything on the Cape you need to use a scanner capable of capturing the trunking systems. The vast majority are part of the State Police system. SDS 100 or 200 is your best bet.
Your claim to not be “tech savvy” concerns me that you will find programming a digital trunking scanner to be overwhelming.

If you are visiting for a vacation in the near future, you can get away with a scanner that can do basic Motorola trunking and be happy.
In the near future, they are going to be transitioning to a P25 Phase 2 capable system so if you are moving there or will be going regularly you would want the scanners that do better with that (SDS radios).
