@3pm local, Big Boy 4014 running late. Still at the Reading Outer Station. In comms on 161.310 BlueMtn/RDG road/dispatch CH1/RRCH80.
Prior to its rebuild, 4014 was on static display at the Los Angeles County fairgrounds in Pomona for decades. I explored the cab several times. "BIG" is an understatement.would LOVE to see that machine in person.

I watched an interview with Engineer Ed and he says it can get up to 150 degrees in the cab and it's so hot that touching the controls takes some time to get used toI can't imagine what it's like riding in the cab with a roaring fire in the firebox in this hot weather.
You definitely need heavy gloves to prevent burning your hands.I watched an interview with Engineer Ed and he says it can get up to 150 degrees in the cab and it's so hot that touching the controls takes some time to get used to

This discussion is drifting way off course. Lets keep it on topic, ie communications in use as 4014 comes through. You definitely need heavy gloves to prevent burning your hands.
