Hi Folks ! This question is just out of curiosity. I Live in Queen Anne's Co. and monitor fire, ems & law on the F.I.R.S.T. P25 Phase II system, which Q.A., Kent and Caroline Co.'s have migrated to, on my HP 2. The question relates to the old Motorola 800 system previously used in Q.A., Caroline & Talbot Co.,s ( Upper Eastern Shore Consortium ). From what I've been told, there are no more agencies using that system. If this is so, why does R.R. still actively list it ? Any thoughts ? Thank You.

Its still an active system, and can be used in the event FiRST fails for some reason. The 3 counties that paid massive amounts of money to start and maintain the system aren't going to just throw itaway because its old, not to mention that while all Emergency Services may have migrated away from that system to FiRST thats not saying that other government agencies might still be operating on it like the Dept of Aging buses or Park's and Rec.

Right now there are several groups still using UESC for a number of functions. There are plans afoot to upgrade it from Smartzone to P25 in order to support 800Mhz paging as well as having a fallback radio system in case FiRST ever goes down. The target for this to happen is late 2018, but practically I'd guess it'll be well into next year by the time current users are moved onto new systems.
