As an occasional visitor (and scanner buff) to the Birmingham vicinity, I would like to know from someone who monitors Birmingham Fire, are they still on the Jefferson County Motorola system or have they fully migrated to the Alabama First Responder Network (AFRN)? Also, is Shelby County's fire units fully on the AFRN as well?

About a week ago I scanned all sites in ID search mode for 2 days and heard no one.

I've been receiving conflicting information. I'm told they are on AFRN, but that I can't get AFRN because it's Phase 2, then I'm told that I can still get BFD and other despite it being AFRN. Super confused.

At the present all AFRN sites in Jefferson and Shelby Counties are passing Phase 1 traffic. In the future these sites if not already will be able to pass Phase 2 traffic also.

AFRN does use Dual Dynamic Mode in those locations, so you can hear both FDMA and TDMA.
