7225 will probably be an "alerting" talk group, which simulcasts the VHF pager frequency.

Didn't hear any traffic other than a key-up, but 7265 seems to be another talk group on the Western Regional radio system.

Wes I have a quick question for you. I just got the 996xt in this morning and set it up to search. Should I just search 150.000 to 160.000 or do you recommend something else? I have it hooked up to a base antennae that is about 30 ft in the air

Where in Blanco County are you? I'd program in the closest tower and then just leave it open to search for new talk groups.

I'm in Johnson City. I have all the Blanco County channels programmed in. I was just curious as to what would be best for searching. Thought I could help with some channels/ tgid's.

Program in the JC tower, then leave it in search, rather than only scanning the talk groups you've already programmed in. I'm in JC today if you need help.

thanks. I have been listening to dps and picking some up out of Sulphur Springs. I assume by J.C. Tower you mean the 3 frequencies listed in the data base

Yes. You'll need to program the 3 JC frequencies and set it up as a trunked system. There should be an explanation in the manual as to how to do that.

Are you programming by hand, through the keyboard? Or are you using software and your pc to program?

by hand so far
The Easier to Read manual has step by step instructions for creating a trunked system. Easier to Read BCD996XT Digital Scanner Manual

Have you created a trunked system at all? Or just, so far, added conventional frequencies from the database page.

Since you're a Premium subscriber, you could use software, such as FreeSCAN, which, as the name implies, is free, to download whatever systems you wanted. Much quicker than by hand, and more importantly, you can see most all of the information needed at the same time. That makes it much easier to spot and correct simple errors and omissions made during data entry. If your pc does not have a serial port (labeled as COM 1), see Connecting scanners via USB - The RadioReference Wiki

The scanner should have come with a serial cable. If you do not have a serial port on the computer, there are a number of USB->Serial converter cables available, or simply get the Uniden USB-1 cable. Links are in the article linked just above.
