Since I expect interest will grow as we get nearer to Naval Commencement, I've put a file together of the Blue Angels freqs that were listed in the Mar 2005 MT. It's really a csv file, which means Excel, Works spreadsheet and numerous scanner programs (such as BuTel's, Scan Control, Radio Manager, ect.) can use it as input. It was unloaded from a Radiomax file; those of you that use that program can simply change the extension to 'fss' and load it directly without conversion.

To keep that file up to date, check the MT website, Milcom on qth.net, Milaircommschat here on Yahoo, or numerous other sources.

Hi ka3jjz

Would you possibly have the Angels freqs in a p95 format? I've tried the csv file here, but seem to be unable to copy and paste the columns from Excel to win95...still a newbie with the software :)
Thanks, Vern

Sri, can't help you there. Anyway, it might not be too productive; the 95 sensitivity in the milair band is not very good. There are a few VHF freqs in that file that might work, but chances are good that the action will be on the milair UHF side, and the PRO95 just doesn't work very well there.

If you've been following the various reports on Milcom, the aircraft forum, ect., you will have noticed that the ground crews for the BA have evidently started using the 138-144 mhz band, 12.5 khz splits in FM mode. The 2 freqs most reported, at least so far, are;

139.8125
142.6125

It might pay, if you're close enough to the staging area to search this band; remember to reset your step and mode.

I'm bringing this over to this thread, since it really doesn't have anything to do with the now completed Andrews show...TineEar wrote:

If you are watching in Annapolis, the ground freqs probably can't be heard. I think their planes will be flying out of PAX. The a-a freqs should be hot!

Also don't forget other UHF appch freqs for the area.Give you good heads up when they are arriving, departing.
Those guys have 2 UHF radios and one will usually be tuned to local Appch freqs.
Wash Center for Annapolis appch is listed as 290.475

Also the Pax River freqs Appch 281.800,Tower 344.400

If they're flying out of Patuxent, there are lots of freqs for them that could be monitored. The main ones:
Approach 120.05/121.0/127.95/250.3/305.2/314.0/318.8/362.6/281.8
Tower 123.7/135.025/344.4
And they'll no doubt be using the BWI TRACON controllers along with Reagan's which are readily available in the database.

Just a tip is that FA-18 Blue Angels and most F-18's in general have no air VHF radios so I would ignore any VHF control freqs.
I'd stick with the UHF freqs.
Demo FA-18 at Millville this past weekend had a VHF radio but he is special demo bird.rare exception.

You are right in that ANGELS could be assigned to any UHF Wash Ctr freq for the show.
290.475 is listed for that area but could be another.Best way is if you catch them departing Pax and hear them push another freq.
Also I was just reminded that like this past weekend's airshow UHF only aircraft like the B-1,B-2 F-15,F-18 they set up sometimes a real local air show Boss approach freq on 238.150.
Apparently a popular standard UHF Air Show freq as listed in MT magazine and was used this past week.
A local controller like maybe around NAVY Stadium would cue these guys in.Just another possibility to keep in mind...

Does anyone have a schedule of what times they are expected to arrive and practice on Tuesday?

Well, I know we are all anxiously awaiting on the Angels.....but I just heard the Thunderbirds on 360.7000 (am).

I'm plugging in all the Angels freq's here.....but I'm not sure I'm going to be able to hear them at such a low altitude all the way out to Annapolis.

Now the T-birds have switched to 277.4000.

{edit} If the stuff on this site were up and running properly, it would be a pretty good source of weather info: http://www.chart.state.md.us/

11:40 - More Comms on 411.200, sounds like security at the Academy...discussing inbound helo's landing near the river.

And I'm copying the Thunderbirds freq of 141.85 right now. I'm stumped.

And there is a WILD flight of F-16s up at the moment on 139.90 and 139.35.

(Damn...I hate these wide pages)

The WILD flight used most of the TAC freqs for the 121st Fighter Squadron and are landing now at Andrews on tower freq 349.0.

Also an ANGRY flight of the 121st has been out there...landing on 349.0 at Andrews at 11:12

Hmm, a wild guess re the T-Birds; perhaps they laid over at Andrews an extra day (to do maintenance?) and are now leaving for another show.

They did put on a nice flight demo on Sunday but were later than the original schedule time of 3pm; they didn't start until 3:30 which might mean they had some maint issues of some kind.
