The Willow Grove show schedule for Friday shows it to be a "Twilight" show beginning at 5 p.m. but the Blue Angels are not on the list of performers. They are last on the list for both Saturday and Sunday though.

Yep, very active on 284.25 and also Radiomax recorded several hits on 237.8. One fallacy did get knocked down; one poster said that the FA18's didn't have VHF air in their radios. Not true, though it didn't work very well. One of the pilots was calling in on 119.7 and couldn't reach Potomac - in fact, a 'Citrus' (=AirTran) flight tried to relay to Blue Angel one that his radio was breaking up. They had 124.55 as the alternate. They finally did make the hookup on 119.7, and I heard the controller on 290.475.

I got a potful of wav files from this pass, even though I had lawn maint crews running those blasted blowers right under me

I need to catalog them and get them into their own directory. Time to assemble all the used freqs and get them up to the folks on Milcom, Phillyscanner, ect...73s Mike

Great job Mike...I might just head up to Willow Grove this weekend to see the show (from the inside this time). I will be sure to add the new freq's before I go.

Looking at the listings, the DoD show and the twilight show are two separate bullet items. The DoD show says not open to the public yet the gates for the twilight show open to the public at 5 PM. I still think they had the DoD show during the day with details available via other channels and kick off the public show this evening.

It still does not mean the Thunderbirds did anything at Willow Grove other than takeoff and land. Did anyone near Willow Grove hear any activity today?

Blue Angels at Willow Grove

I live in Willow Grove and watched the Angels take off from the base at about 9:40 this morning for a flyover at the Naval Commencment at Annapolis, they were back in Willow Grove at about 10:20. They just finished up a practice session from about 4:00 to 4:40. They are not performing at the DOD personnel private show tonight. They were very active on 284.25. The boss is talking and giving audible clues to the other pilots constantly. Great stuff to listen to.

The Blues flew Wednesday as scheduled - I watched them from my Whaler anchored off the Academy seawall. Impressive as ever, but they need to shake up their routine - it's getting too predictable. They did a flyby for today's commencement. I live in the NMC Staduim flightpath, so they screamed over my house and set off the neighbor's car alarms, as usual. In fact, we get a flyby at every Navy home football game, not the Blues, but an interesting assortment of aircraft - EA-6's, F-18's, F-14's, and I think one time there was an S-3.
