If so Mike, they did it mostly in silence. They were on their freqs for about 5 minutes at the most - and then just went away. We know they went up to Willow Grove PA this afternoon.

Understand...I'm hoping to hear from more than one source on the accuracy of this information. One would think that there would be a lot more comms if it actually went on as scheduled.

I've been known to repeat gossip, but with the disclaimer; FYI
Which ultimately means, well, gossip!

Wow...can't belive I am the only one who went to the show....it lasted a good 60-75 minutes...and even during light rain...they gave a full "low" show. ( I got to the spa river bridge at 2pm...left at 3:30).

They always impress me...but now that I've listened to them in action, its a toss up of which is worse....the singing guy w/the T-birds....Or the Blues squad leader that sounds like a zombie, come back from the dead.

Fat Albert actually started things out...another 15-20 minute pre show, making slow low passes, and then pulling straight up...pretty good for a prop plane.

Sorry to hear that everyone missed them.

Oh...and yes, I listened to the comms the entire time...pretty active as one would expect.

The Angels did do a QUICK show yesterday. If it was all of 10 minutes that would have been a long time. Practice was much more exciting, not that anytime you see them it is not exciting.

From Adam Brock on Scan-DC:
============
3 more they used on Tuesday & Wednesday...

142.6125 BA to Ground Crew (very active)
378.10 BA to Andrews
305.5 Fat Albert
============
notice the use of the new narrowband ground freq.

Paul, did you happen to confirm any of these when you saw them yesterday?

Isn't the show on Wednesday, with commencement later in the week-like on Friday? They do have just a fly-by for commencement ceremonies but that should be it.

I think once again Mother Nature robbed us of good flying weather for the demostration.

Mike,

I did hear comms from Fat Albert on 305.5000....the Angels themselves used 237.8000, including the solo's ...I even heard whomever was on the parade grounds talking to them on 237.8000.....They weren't talkative 100% of the time they were in the air, but very active indeed.

But I am thoroghly amazed, that even after I have posted that I was there and watched the ENTIRE 60 minute show...that others have posted whether or not it really took place.

Man...tough crowd!

The ceiling was at approx 2000ft...and one of the most common comms ...other than "pull"...was "in the clouds." Their horizontal distances from the prade grounds had to exceed 10 miles, with the greater distances being from the southwest counterclockwise to the northeast.

I don't remember hearing anything on the 143.0000 range, but once I got them on 237, i put my scanner on manual.

For what its worth, security was very active on 411.2000.

I don't question at all that the show took place and that you were there to watch it. I think what we're all trying to understand is why the comms couldn't be heard by most of us that were listening. As I reported, I had activity on three freqs that lasted about five minutes and then it was all gone. That 237.8 freq is one that I had plugged in and heard activity on. Maybe it's just because it was such low level flying that the comms couldn't be heard. That's the part that puzzles me since from my location I can hear a frog fart from Annapolis.

11:44-Blue Angels up...Mr Zombie and crew on 284.25 for now.

And 237.8
And 346.5

11:55 they are talking about landing on runway 33. (Not Andrews) (Not Patuxent NAS either - doesn't have a runway 33. BWI does but they are not loud enough to be landing at BWI.) (Martin State Airport has a runway 33 but that isn't where they went either - judging by their signal level which was very low.)

By 12:01 they can no longer be heard.

There is a airshow at Willow Grove NAS in Pennsylvania this weekend and they do have a runway 33.

The airshow website says the Blue Angels will be there along with Fat Albert.

Makes sense that they'd be setting up for their next show. I'm under the impression that all they'll do Friday at the Academy commencement exercise is a flyby. Anyone know for sure?

Hello,

The airshow schedule for Willow Grove NAS has a Military Dependents Air Show
(open for DoD employees only and dependents; not open to the public) for Friday daytime.
So maybe both the flyby and the show.
