This (408.2375) was likely a VA Hosp (West Haven CT) not BNL
Sorry I was way off on my assumption of the meaning of AGS, but I did copy engineers
on 408.2375 this morning discussing "AGS" but I beleive that is something different
like a automatic generator system or similar cause they said "It cooled down now"
but it was vy weak....73,s marcy

408 would be the Repeater with 417 (+9) as the input, might be a short-tailed repeater?

The NTIA FOIA from last fall had this as Newington CT VA Emerg Prep, but for years it was confirmed as West Haven :)
OK it is DPL 152
Its the input to a repeater. Only hearing dispatch side. Maybe VA hospital somewhere. VA here in West Haven is P25. And I know it's not the input to that for other reasons. Signal strength is a 9.5 out of 10. As strong as the other BNL freqs. so it could be them, but it really sounds like security of some type. And BNL security is on the other known P25 freq. Someone stuck in an elevator and missing property conversations so far.
Have to keep listening.

BNL did have some UHF Simplex (headset and RF Controls) assigned but all LOW Power and Simplex in the 411 band
If we are talking about 408.2375, @Marcy57 is not all that far from the Northport VA, but if AGS was heard, I would take BNL over a VA hospital as I do not think the VA would be discussing AGS over the air, which in medical terms is Aicardi-Goutières Syndrome. A rare genetic disorder that affects the brain, spinal cord and immune system.

Don't want to get off topic, but while searching for our previously unknown freq of 408.2375, the radio stopped on a continuous QSO on 415.075. Sounds like they are transmitting from the Oil Tankers or Cargo ships that come into New Haven Harbor. Analog simplex with no PL. Try to figure out what language it is... Maybe Asian of some type.

The only Oil Tanker in New Haven right now is this one

WH has two Maint Nets 1 and 2
1 is 409.4375
2 is 408.2375 and is also Emegency Prepardness
Another new one popped up.
409.3625 DCS 155
Repeater
Talking about some lights out in Building two, and testing the Generators on Saturday
I would guess it is West Haven VA judging only by the signal strength and common PL tone

Bob

I used the translator software on my phone. It determined the language was Chinese (simplified or traditional).
Definitely talking about ship operations.

Wow super idea Terry. Never would have thought of doing that. Another use for my phone now ! Yes they were rag chewing all night and into the morning. I saw that ship go by the window here leaving the New Haven harbor, and soon the frequency went quiet. Visual and audible confirmation! I'll keep that freq in the radio in case other ships use it.

Yeah was actually playing a game on the phone and noticed I had the app - so I listened to the audio and it sounded Chinese (not really sure that is the language - thought official language was Mandarin). Anyway I set the phone up to listen for the Chinese language options and boom it translated.

Mentioned about the anchor, and gear motor or something. Interesting mix of English and Chinese.

We learn something new everyday. Now to figure out why they are using that frequency.

Never mind - appears they can use it except for aeronautical. Technically they are Region 3 ....

Wow time to set up another scan bank. Thanks Terry. By the way, they were using open squelch, no tone.

If you put 415.075 in RR box search at the top right.....Bureau of Land Management in California has a repeater on that frequencies.
Wonder how many ships dock in California harbors using that freq - but no one hears them since they use either PL/DCS/P25 in their scanners
