I recently started watching this show called Bounty Hunters on A&E. I was just wondering what frequencies they use in the northern NJ and NYC area? Anyone ever confirm hearing them on their scanner? Just curious.

"Bounty hunters" are private entities contracted by bondsmen not connected in any way to law enforcement so you'll find no such frequency assignments. You will have to know the name of the license holder and FRN to look up any license information on the FCC web site.

Along those lines it would be GMRS as FRS has extremely short range and would only be useful "on site". Anyone can buy a GMRS license so such use would be logical BUT for security issues which may or may not be of concern. Other than an individually licensed entity NEXTEL would be a logical choice. Bottom line; one can only guess.

Do they even USE radios?????? I would assume based on their need to move all over radios WOULDN'T be practical. I think they use the "handi-talkie" feature on their cellphones which makes monit oring them impossible. As a matter of fact during the past few days, I see Nextel using a "group call" feature between multiple phones. They obviously don't want people listening to them and can't afford encrypted radios
