Wow, I just picked up a used BR330T on Ebay. I'm saddened it did not do well based on my discovery of this thread. It's a great radio and an excellent companion to the BCD396T. I bought it to replace my 246T. It's in my opinion an improvement!

Sometimes the Universe just doesn't make any sense.....

If I were a Uniden manager what I'd do is add a couple of small features, remove all the NASCAR stuff, change the model number and re release it. Seems like a good scanner, sort of a 396 sans digital. It's a shame to remove such a product from the line.

Unless of course they are gearing up for the BCT440 and 496T! <G>

Maybe we should start the unofficial pre release threads. ;)

I agree. They should have took off the NASCAR logo. Discontinued the BC246T and just had the BR330T at the $200 price tag.

It is a shame. It was one of the best scanners I have owned as far as an analog scanner goes.

But I can only assume that the BC246T is outselling the BR330T. If the BR330T was a hot seller, they would have kept it around.

I am glad I got one some time back. The 246 is not even close to it in performance. I have both the 246 and the 330 and I would not buy the 246 again.

By "performance", do you mean sensitivity, selectivity, etc? If not, what do you mean?

Uniden has no plans to discontinue support for this model, just as we have not discontinued support for the BC296D, BC796D, BC245XLT, BC244CLT, BC248CLT... and so on.

I'm very surprised the BC330T was discontinued. It seems like it served good roll in the Uniden product line. Like other's have said, I would have liked to have seen the 246T discontinued and kept the 330T. I ran across this thread as I was actually looking for a 330T to handle analog while I scanned digital with the 396T, since there is a fair amount of traffic on both types of systems in these parts.

One really nice feature of the 330T was that it shared the same basic menu and programing structure as the 396/996. I think I'd have a hard time picking up the old way programing was done. Maybe I'll just pick up a BCT15 or BCD996T :(

My prediction is that that the BR330T will become a sought after collectible. It's a unique scanner all the way down to the "NASCAR" logo.

Keep an eye on eBay....I see demand going up eventually. I might pick up another just to keep mint for later resale.

The only reason why I did not buy the BR330T was because I really did not like the Nascar Logo at all, it really cheapens the otherwise professional and clean look of the unit.

As for performance (sensitivity/selectivity), I can only assume it performs alot better than my 396 since my UBC3500 (that is supposedly based on the 330T model) really pulls in alot more signals than my 396 does using exactly the same antenna. If they discontinue this model without bringing in a replacement then I am obviously on a different planet to them.

EDIT:

I have been doing alot of Search and Stores on both my 3500 and 396 using the same antenna, same settings and the same frequency ranges etc. My 3500 stored twice as many frequencies and CTCSS codes with my 396 averaging half of that number most of the time.

Well I didn't buy because I wanted to see the full coverage feature rolled into a 396 followon. I do a lot of theme park scanning, and a full range radio is key to gettng signals in the UHF range that many scanners omit. The 396 misses the 512-764MHz range, and I would dearly like to have it...

...but I'd hate to get a 330 _just_ for that range...

A real bummer too see this awesome little scanner discontinued. I really like the scanner myself. The nascar logo and race car options, were a total lost for such a great scanner. Too bad the bcd369 didn't also have the frequency coverage of the br330t. The 246 can't compare with the br330. So why not discontinue the 246 instead? hhhhmmmm!!!!

I love my 330 and with it's unique features I'm surprised to see it discontinued. Personally I could care less if it has a Nascar logo or even a Barbie logo as long as it's a great receiver. Other than perhaps sideband there's very little I'd want added. Glad I bought mine when I did.

One had to wonder how much it cost to make a 330T. Maybe it wasn't a profitable scanner with the Nascar license and such.

Maybe the BR330T was both too expensive and too complicated for the typical NASCAR crowd? I agree though, that scanner could have retailed for a lot less $$$ if they'd have dropped the whole NASCAR licensing agreement.
