Twas the Night before Christmas
Twas the night before christmas,
I must have programed 3 or 4 scanners for folks who where getting new scanners for Christmas this year. Well, about 5:00 am I get a call from one of the folks who is in a panic.
"There an officer Down! How do I stop it?"
Just to make sure I heard them right I responded with the standard 5:00 AM
"Huh, what did ya say?"
"TAC 10 there on TAC 10, an officer was shot! I cant get my scanner to Track it! How do you track it?"
" Ya mean Trunk?", I said with a yawn.
" Yeah thats it, Trunk, How do you get it to trunk?"
In the back ground of the phone conversation I could hear they had that little scanner cranked as hi as it could go. I'm thinking that the 4 AA batteries will be dead with in a few hours if not sooner, Then I hear what they was a calamering about. I got up and turned my scanner on. Sure enough TAC 10 was rolling.
"Hit the top right button on the scanner, hold it untill it beeps. " I told them.
As we listen something stuck me funny...the whole thing sounded like a practice session, and it was.
" Randy.... How long have you been up?"
" All night! Man, I love this scanner my wife got me!"
At this point I couldnt help but chuckle....
"I hate to break your heart, But what your listening too is a Practice run. It fake. they do this to see if the dispatchers are on the toes."
"Isnt that against the law?" he asked.
"Nope. Goodnight Randy!" and I hung up the phone!
