WTF goes on in Johnson County???!

TG ID 64912- J MA 1 Dist 52?

About 1415 today started picking up lots of traffic in reference to what sounded like a perimeter set-up. Sounded like a regular "fugitive" take-down, a command was given for all officers to decend on the area and lots of excitement. Then on the same TG they are requesting ambulances and someone to take a report for a crash involving "three state units and a county unit." WTF goes on???!!

I almost had some good shots of breaking news tonight. There was a big Fourth of July celebration at New Palestine High School and the company doing the fireworks was drilling holes with a gas post hole digger when they hit a high pressure gas line... oooppsss! It turns out the lines are very old and only 2 feet deep. In all the years they have been doing this no one ever hit a gas line.
The fireworks went off but two hours later than scheduled.

Looked like a good worker on WTHR's chopper cam. Fire got in the cockloft and took off, its on the ground now. Wonder how many people lived there...

Report I heard said all 36 units in that particular building gone. It was a massive blaze. I drove by there 15min ago and they were still dousing the ruins.

EDIT: The fire was just declared "under control"... a 3 1/2 hour fight in total.

I will post more photos later tonight, we shot over 3 gig of pictures at the fire, my first picture was taken about 6 min after the run went out, I was at 21st and Girls School road and for some reason the 396T was working good enough for me to hear the run. Of course I had just reprogrammed the scanner this morning and left out the ops channels, but from what I heard on spkr mics from the guys around me the system sounded pretty good.

Sad. International Village has been a fixture on the Speedway landscape for many years. I looked into renting an apartment there when I first moved to the area in 1977. It was a popular place for young singles back then. Makes you wonder how many other 30-40 year old apartment complexes around town would go up like tinder boxes if a fire ever got out of control.

Clark County Sheriff's office is "under signal-100" and limiting radio conversation about something. They have a man barricaded who is refusing to come out. They've activated the SOU (Spec Ops Unit). Details are hard to come by right now.

Clark County situation resulted in at least one death...

Okay, when I said the situation was sketchy, I wasn't kidding. I was able to catch one transmission where a senior officer indicated that the coroner had been called in. I did not hear any indication that anyone was taken into custody and other conversational clues lead me to believe that the subject police were attempting to deal with may have committed suicide or possibly suicide by cop. There's nothing in the morning news yet, so I guess I have to wait and see.

I-74 Closed Both Directions @106mm

Shelby County law enforcement reporting power lines down across I-74 around the 106 mile marker. Both directions of traffic shut down. Advised of broken pole just north of interstate. No cause found yet.

Radio traffic will be on 158.730MHz for now.

Shelby County (with assist from Shelbyville PD, ISP, and maybe Hancock Co) Deputies setting up a perimeter and calling in canines to search for a subject that bailed from a stolen motorcycle after a brief chase after a failed burglary...

Traffic on 158.73 MHz with some coordination with ISP on "73 SHF DISP" TG.

ISP 53 just broadcast that the 'radio systems' would be going down at this time for approx 2 hours or less. This was broadcast at 1010hrs EDT as monitored on I-MA1.

1021EDT: The sites Hendricks Co and Moorseville sites are still up. Hendricks and Morgan Counties are still handling traffic. I have not heard any additional radio traffic on the ISP groups since the broadcast.

1028EDT: Dist 52 is handling traffic. I have not heard District 53. At this point, I suspect they are doing maintenance in the dispatch center at Dist53.

1031EDT: Dist53 broadcast "radios are working again."

there was also traffic on J-MA1 with ISP and helicopter. The chopper was up twice and they still didn't get the guy, think he's headed to KY

Metro Officer Down

An IMPD officer was shot at 810 N Euclid St about 20 minutes ago. The officer was taken to Wishard as was a suspect.
Hopefully the officer will be OK.
