There is what is believed to be a large warehouse fire in downtown Terre Haute. Been going for about 3 hours and looks to have extended to an adjacent building. It's in the vicinity of 11th & Chestnut. Just east of the ISU campus. Lots of flames and smoke. A several square block area is blocked off and LOTS of apparatus in operation.

I was out there all last night, wow. Flames very very high. County was called into man all the THFD houses. And all THFD firefighters were called out... It is at the corner of 10th at Chestnut if you would like to go and check it out. Very very wild fire watching a warehouse full of lumber go up in flames. I forgot my digital camera becuase I was oncall for work and followed engine 9. I could see the smoke from past the mall and just knew that this was the "big one". The PIO for THFD said that this was the biggest fire he'd seen since the big Ellis Law fire about 15 years ago. You know when the fire department is asking people to conserve water in a town the size of Terre Haute it is big. I'll be out there agian today and will be taking my digital this time, and I will be posting the pictures.

Link below explains it all. Seems to be a trash removal transfer station. As of 10:55pm the roads are still closed and they are still working to ensure the fire is out.

I was going to post about this event, but you beat me to it, Doug. Good job, buddy.

To just give another small update, crews are still on the scene as of 9:50 AM Sunday morning. EMA tankers have been called to the scene to assist KFD. That is about all that is really new to report at this time.

Semi in a lake

Just heard ISP reporting that a wreck has occured in Rochester, In. A semi carrying steel beams is upside down in a lake. The semi first struck a truck prior to driving into the lake. The driver of the semi is hurt but out of the semi. The driver of the truck is entrapped at this point. The accident happened beside the post office. (not sure where that is)

Child Preditor?

Yesterday afternoon Muncie PD chased and caught a man that was hanging arround some chldren in the park. According to the radio traffic the man did not approach the kids in any way.

As of 9:18 AM on Monday morning (March 6th) my scanner has been buzzing with traffic on the Howard County TRS system on the EMA and County Mutual Aid talkgroups. All of the traffic is for today's funeral of Sergeant Ricky Jones whom was killed in Iraq last week. All of the law enforcement involved with this detail are doing a fine job. I am sure the traffic will be consistent up until around 11:30 AM or so.

UPDATE;

Channel 22 just did a live report from Kokomo on their Noon News.. The protestors didn't show up!

I AM REALLY HAPPY FOR THE THE FAMILY OF THE DECEASED SEVICEMAN THAT THEY DIDN'T SHOW UP!!

I have to agree with you, thank god those numbskulls didn't show up... I'm totally for protesting. But, like anything else there is a time and place. If you don't like the war take it to Washington DC. Don't come to the cemetary, and upset a family of a fallen soilder who was just acting on orders...

News reported from Indy news channel.... most were "afraid" to show, because they were afraid of being arrest for the recent damages to the soldiers, family's property...

I commend the governer for pushing such a law so fast!!!

Or the thousands of people that lined the eight miles of street between the church and the grave site. I was there. It was amazing to see that kind of support for a family that needed it the most.

Just caught bits and pieces on SEMA talk group I think fatal Fire in Shoal.

Maybe 6 fatal.

Any again barely caught traffic and it was short.

Multiple people shot in Kokomo

Just heard that there are two people shot at a residence on East Sycamore in Kokomo. The shooter or shooters, there are possibly two or more, are still in the house and they have multiple fire arms. The Kokomo SWAT team has been called in to assist.
