Lots of activity today at St. Mary of the Woods College in the West Terre Haute area. Today is the local celebration of Mother Theodore Guerin's canonization.

Have monitored lots of activity on SAFE-T, including ISP Dist. 32 Dispatch, SEMA-HAZMAT, and H-MA-1. Have even heard some chatter on FBI B6 (167.6875 pl-167.9).

I know Gov. Daniels will be in attendance for a portion of the event so the GOV-SEC talkgroup might have some action as well.

Re:Training late at night?

This morning I’m hearing a bit of strangeness on the Anderson SAFE-T tower. On unidentified talkgroup 15440 (Digital). 3or 4 officers are following a car between Anderson and Elwood. The “bad” guy car keeps changing directions on SR28, waving at and flipping off the officers. The officers are changing cars. And don’t seem to be very unset they have been “made” by the “bad guys”. It must be some kind of training exercise.

Gary,
I'm not sure what you were hearing. Madison Co. uses LTR. Madison Co. dispatch, and EMA only use SafeT for emergency.Deputies on the road are not Safe T equipped. ( I think) I have noticed that I do pick up Muncie traffic on Anderson's tower. Marty

Uless it was state police. But they shouldn't be on Anderson's tower.

Actually the first shooting at around 09:45 was a self-inflicted GSW to the head. The guy was airlifted out. Not sure if he made or not, my guess is probably not. The second, at about 10:15, of course, was the homicide.

You can find an article regarding the homicide at: http://www.kokomotribune.com/local/local_story_319112145.html

Around 5pm'ish, 3 car with head-on collision on SR 26E at 1050E. 5 injured with multiple entrapments. (If I remember correctly) 3 were taken to Home Hospital and 2 to St E. One was a 20 year old female and one was a 12 year old male. I didn't hear the entire event but caught parts of it.

At around 9 AM today the Kokomo Fire Department responded to the Chrysler Casting Plant for a fire in the building. The fire reached a 2nd alarm. Magnesium was involved so firefighters were forced to smother the flames with dry powder. Units returned to station around 10 AM.

was anyone up at about 3am yesterday listening to the Vigo County Sheriff's officer crash, from what I heard it was a 2 car MVA almost sounded like they might of hit eachother or that they hit a different car. I really don't know much about that because there was so much traffic, they did run two plates, a sheriffs plate and if I remember right like a 99 prefix plate. It also took the fire dept about 1/2 to cut them out of the car.
Now from what I learned on WTHI, one of the deputies will be alright, but the other is in a coma.

80 Pound Kitty Cat On The Loose - Clay County

ISP Helicopter Working on Talkgroup HMA-1 In Clay County this evening to find escaped 80-pound kitty cat (cougar).

No luck tonight, although lots of deer and livestock spotted with infrared camera.

Depending on weather, search resumes tomorrow night.

Here's the background story....

80-pound cougar escapes
Owner of Exotic Feline Rescue Center calls it his ‘worst nightmare’

By Laura Followell of The Tribune-Star

An 80-pound cougar scaled a 14-foot fence Friday in Clay County and escaped from its cage. Indiana conservation officers and Clay County Sheriff’s Department were unsuccessful in search efforts Sunday. The female cougar had been living at the Exotic Feline Rescue Center in Center Point on Ashboro Road, where owner Joe Taft said his worst fear had come true.

“We’re not sure what happened,” Taft said. “This is a wild cougar; this is not someone’s pet.” Taft said he believes the animal won’t approach people and that it may still be on the rescue center’s property.

Fresh tracks were discovered Sunday and the remains of a recently eaten raccoon were found and believed to be the work of the cougar, Taft said. “It was in a cage that was away from people,” Taft added. “That’s the saving grace in this matter.”

The 7-year-old animal arrived at the center more than six years ago after its mother was killed by poachers, he said. The rescue center is caring for 197 cats on 108 acres of land with 30 acres of enclosures. The cougar was housed in a specially constructed cage with a recurve at the top.

“It’s absolutely amazing that she was able to escape,” Taft said. “Donner [the cougar] lived in this cage for six years. Something obviously had to stress her very much. “This is more than a little stressful,” Taft said, “this is my absolute worst nightmare.”

Indiana Conservation Officer Max Winchell stated, “Although it is illegal to kill a protected exotic animal, … a citizen has the right to protect themselves and their property if they feel they may be in danger. “I wouldn’t feel comfortable with my children in the yards,” Winchell said. “Be on the lookout for it — use common sense.” Winchell urges anyone who sees the cougar to call local law enforcement.
