You're asking for system specifics on a P25 system that won't be operational for between one and two years from now.

Based on the options being ordered in new radios, OTAR and OTAP are possible. Those features are present in the XL-185Ms and Ps that they've been getting. As are DES and AES multikey, but there has been no statement as to whether or not these features will be implemented.

I wasn't asking about Brevard. That's all still up in the air regardless of sources of info. Does Sumter utilize OTAR and/or OTAP? Getting OTAR and/or OTAP to work between L3HARRIS and other manufacturer's P25 radios can be problematic.

This is a Brevard specific topic, anything mentioned here should be specific to Brevard.

I'm a long way from Sumter county. I only discovered what I mentioned on Memorial Day when I was at Bushnell National Cemetery,
and learned by observation and conversation that their fire services use Motorola and their SO uses Harris, but together on the same system,
but that's ALL I know about it. I'd refer to Sumter specific topics for additional info if there is any.

Any such issues with multi-vendor OTAR or OTAP will likely have to be resolved eventually. The sooner the better, as EVERY manufacturer would like the opportunity to sell product into other vendor's systems.

As an example, Sumter County, FL, has the county fire/rescue department using entirely Motorola P25 radios, while the Sheriff's Department is all Harris, and both operate on the same P25 system. Both agencies are apparently perfectly satisfied with their equipment.

That is absolutely bogus. Sumter is all Motorola. County agencies + Villages as well.

Let me try to be very clear about what I observed. Perhaps I was so focused on the equipment that I wasn't reading badges, patches, and markings on vehicles. The tactically unformed LEOs present at Bushnell were using Harris XL-185 radios and were definitely not FHP. And they were within their radio system's operating range, as they occasionally used their radios during the course of the event. SOMEBODY is using Harris radios within Sumter county and they are uniformed LEOs. And I was speaking to two of them.

What other agency, not FHP, would be within Sumter County, present at Bushnell National Cemetery for Memorial Day ceremonies, and would be within portable radio coverage range fo their system using Harris portable radios?

Definitely without a doubt somebody is using those Harris radios in the Bushnell region, or was on that day at least.
That's not even open to argument.

The fire department personnel were using yellow APX portable radios. Didn't get down close enough to squint at them and figure out if they were 7000s or 6000s. APX mobiles seen within their vehicles.

Don't doubt for one second you saw deputies with Harris terminal gear at Bushnell. In fact it happens pretty often, but you can be sure they are not Sumter deputies using them in daily use on the county TRS.

Plenty of others in the vicinity (even inside coverage) that end up there who are on the Harris side of life.

if i had to guess:
east coast encryptors:
flagler
volusia (rumored after P25 switch)............

I know this is kind of an old post at this point (and kind of off-topic) but I thought that Volusia was only going to be encrypting sensitive LEO Stuff and leave LE Dispatch and fire and EMS in the clear? What I am interpreting from your post is that Volusia was going to encrypt everything. Maybe I just read it wrong.

Also, only Flagler LEO is encrypted everything else remains clear.

That's all good info to hear. I wish that every county had its own sticky topic so we don't have to go search for it if it hasn't been active in a while.

most of these are active - and if they are not, just DM me and i'll unlock them.
