I love it. The sky is falling the sky is falling, why because some scanner dweb made up his mind that they will encrypt. Encryption is still an option.

Perhaps if some of you did not post what you hear and then criticize and Monday morning quarterback the local chiefs might not be so concerned.

BTW what is your "experience"?

Being digital naturally the audio is clearer but the power is WAY down. Uh oh, when a perfectly good radio system goes digital encryption soon follows or so my experience tells me.

To the contrary, I live in Brick and when Berkeley Twp. PD was analog, I couldn't receive them at all here. Since they switched to digital I get them loud and clear all the time.

Scott's right about that, now go back and read my edited post on the previous page.

Oh DJ, we're talking about Brick here, not Berzerkley.

Oh Warren, Naturally the power is WAY down? Naturally? Sounds like you're making a generalization; when a system goes digital the power goes down. If you were only speaking of Brick, you might have been better off saying that the power is down on the Brick system, if you are certain of that, and left out the naturally.

Ok folks, did a little venture mission just now and can confirm that PD ch 1 (453.05) has a P25 Nac of 111 and PD ch. 4 (453.15) Nac 222. All P25 ENC mode the entire time that I monitored both channels .

I Have The Digital Radioshack Scanner. But Everything Is Coming In Ecrypted It Sounds Like. Can't I Still Hear Them Because I Have A Digital Scanner Or No? If Its Encrypted Will It Work At All?

No need to ditch your scanner just yet. You can still monitor fire and EMS. BTW, I live in Brick also. I've been involved in the hobby for over 30 years, and over the past few years I'ver monitored less and less police radio traffic. I pretty much stick to just fire and EMS. Most of the police stuff is just BS anyway, motor vehicle stops, barking dogs and other neighbor complaints, domestics, calls for the cops to respond to first aid calls, shoplifters, burgalaries, alarms, etc. Occasionally something big will happen, but we're just going to have to learn to live with the fact that we can't monitor it. The cops don't want us listening to them, and you will see, in the future, more and more encryption. Monitor what you can now and enjoy it.
