I would gladly do so if the playlist contain more than 20 talkgroups. Unless there's some way to increase the number now.
Think of each playlist as a bank in a scanner. You can open multiple tabs in a browser to listen to more than one playlist at a time. I'd divide lists up by service type if by county or city would be too large, or even make a fire bank 1 and fire bank 2, etc.

Yeahhhh but the audio gets turned down on the "other" playlist. I'd rather have a little delay and have more talkgroups in my playlist. I understand why its this way though.

If you get too many talkgroups in your playlist, you'll never catch up to live. Take a systemwide group like ARMER ( Allied Radio Matrix for Emergency Response (ARMER) - All Calls Live ), calls come in faster than they can playback. If you're listening to a large number of talkgroups, it might be best to distribute them between multiple players ( maybe @blantonl could look at adding a balance control to player so simultaneous playbacks can come out of different speakers, it is an available control in the <AUDIO> tag)
Of course, one way to counteract the call backup during busy times would also add playback speed control to the player. If one chose to playback calls at 1.5x or 2x (again another control builtin to HTML5 <AUDIO>), the backup that occurs during a long call would be less.

I'm working on a "scanning" feature and a "smart scanning" feature

Scanning: only play the newest call in a playlist, just like a scanner would
Smart Scanning: if the queue to play get's too large, start jumping up to catch up.

We could look at a html5 audio call playback speed option, that's a fantastic idea!

I just added this feature. I can't believe I didn't think of this... but it's implemented now, and you get the credit. And I'll be dammed if it doesn't work pretty nicely!

Not at this time, but soon. It depends on each talkgroup.
Ah okay. I feed a few ARMER nodes and I'll admit I'm not entirely sure how they all get uploaded, sorted, filtered and sent out but I am definitely interested in improving my nodes if I can

I've actually stopped sending to OpenMHZ and Rdio-Scanner and I'm just sending a node to BCFY. I like the direction it's going and it's nice to see Calls getting some much needed love to make it more discoverable and hopefully just as popular as legacy feeds, especially with the ability in the future to publish playlists. Spent some time yesterday and today putting together playlists and plan to order some more SDR's to provide additional nodes.

With the changes that have been made to the algo, the Bcalls system is actually performing pretty damn perfectly. The missing calls was truly my biggest issue.

Now if Android/Chrome would keep playing for hours after the screen on my phone is turned off that would be GREAT LOL.

I can't wait for the "county playlist" feature. I've had a few folks complain my node is "down" but they're not tech savvy enough to make a playlist (we're talking older, non-radio folks here).

Appreciate the work Lindsay.

Thanks Naplam!

I don't think people realize how powerful this platform is going to become.

I'm going to have some test cases rolled out for public playlists here before the weekend is over. Calls has been buried in Broadcastify for a while as a technology preview, but we're going to start bubbling it up.

We're already lining up developers on the iOS/Android side with an API we should have released soon, which will greatly get things moving on better client interaction.

We're always going to have haters out there that don't believe in capitalism, think that because we don't consider their individual situation that we're not listening and we don't know what we're doing etc, but the reality is that we expending tens of thousands of dollars a month to run things here, we give very detailed thought to whatever we roll out and implement, and we do kind of know what we're doing here. 😜

I mean come on folks, look around here! Read the room. All of us here, including the haters, are doing some pretty cool stuff.

I still use ScannerLive to listen to my feed and some other local feeds at home. It's ancient and hasn't been upgraded in years. I would definitely listen to a couple playlists at once. I'm on board. (y)
