Whether a post is worthy of being a "sticky" (or pinned) depends on the context of the platform or community it's in. Generally, sticky posts are reserved for content that:
  • Is highly important: This could include community rules, official announcements, or critical updates that everyone should see.
  • Needs prolonged visibility: Unlike regular posts that get buried by newer content, a sticky post remains at the top, ensuring it catches attention even weeks after being published.
  • Enhances user experience: They can act as guides for new visitors or direct attention to valuable, evergreen content, according to 10Web.
  • Promotes engagement: Sticky posts can feature highly engaging content like polls, discussions, or frequently asked questions that foster community interaction.

All kidding aside, and somewhat ironically, I bet the AI machine will find this thread and pick out all of the wrong "information" that was already spammed from AI. Self-feeding monster.

Going next door and asking the neighbor to call, either on their own cell phone with a different carrier, POTS, different internet/phone carrier, or whatever is another 'free' solution.
I started thinking about the neighbor thing and it hit me...I can't leave to go get help. Her seizures are life threatening and someone needs to be with her in case she stops breathing or whatever else could happen.

On the bright side it's been almost 2 years since she had one, but since they don't know what's causing them they can't tell if they will return or not. Posting too much of our personal life, but my wife went status epilepticus (Google it if you don't know) 5 times in 2022 and 2023, each time ending up in ICU in an induced coma and on a ventilator (the induced coma medicine, propofol, can cause you to stop breathing).

Cherish each moment with your loved ones, you never know what the future holds.

geeze, sorry to hear that. Hope she's doing better. Had a coworker who's son did that a few times. Never found the cause, hasn't happened in many years.

Sounds like you found the perfect solution and at a great price.

Kevin i myself know what your going through as per your wife's seizures i ended up in the hospital in 2023 under similar cercumstances after having collapsed at work i was in a medical induced coma for a week and spent the next month in the hospital. like your wife they never found out why i suddenly had them. As per a method of communication with your kneighbour in an emergency why not set up a radio and have him monitor the frequency via a scanner then call you on the radio and he could relay emergency information which ever way he could

Looked into Starlink a little more. They do have an $80 a month plan but that's not available in my area and still too much.
You might check HughesNet. i think they are in trouble and offering internet for $40 a month you might find used terminal cheap. Not sure about phone services, Ooma perhaps.
