Well here's the good news: The commands are the same, so it could work. The only caveat would be that you can only program 50 channels per bank, not 100 like the 250/785.

And here's the bad news: There is a command that we programmers can use to check which model of scanner you have connected. So, if you try to use your 785 software on a BC245, the program can detect that the scanner you've connected is not the one it was designed for, and abort programming it. I'm betting Gommert has the software verify it's actually talking to a 250 or 785 before any programming takes place. But, he may not have.

Bottom line is: Try it and see. You might get lucky.

No, for the BC780 we developed ARC780. ARC250 will not work with a (U)BC780.

Gommert, was I correct in that you verify the scanner model before connecting to it? If so then it will not work, but if not then it still could (and I'd recommend that you fix that :wink: )

Yes, we need to know which of the 5 models is connected to reconfig the software. For the (U)BC780 we developed ARC780.

Already have the keycode and I can tell that it is a lifesaver because programming this beast would be a chore!

This is my first Uniden (I am a true-blue Radio Shack/GRE person) but I wanted a better Mil Air receiver and I hope that the 296D fits the bill.
