I can't duplicate the start up key issue, when I select startups in the upload window they show up in the scanner, is it possible you have several favorite files with the same name?

No, I give every FL a distinct name. Let me amend that a little bit. I did have a duplicate FL in the scanner, but with a slightly different name. That was because I edited the name and forgot to load it as a new FL, but tried to overwrite it.

I haven't yet been able to establish a pattern to when this happens. Sometimes it doesn't and sometimes when I am loading a single FL all of them will be changed in this regard. Let me ask you this. If I have a favorite list open in the left hand window and load it, could that have an effect?

When I open the write to scanner window, I get the normal window with the choice to add a new FL or overwrite an existing one. This seems to happen with either, but again appears to be random.

Also, should I check or uncheck "Enable Quick Keys/Service type after upload"?

Have you tried adjusting the screen size/resolution of your computer using your Windows control panel? I use 1920x1080 and have the full window for Managing the Full Database Window.

I'm not seeing a loss of data in the first department of a system.

One thing I did notice in justifying alpha tags is that you can choose to center "All Groups in System" but it's only centering the current group.

Nevertheless, I'm really happy that Gommert could fix up the centering issue.

I just loaded Basic version 0.90 Build 3 and installed it. I notice a couple of new features. One is Quick Key Manager, which is a very nice carry over from ARCXT and earlier software. Being able to shuffle system and department QKs around is very nice. One thing I would suggest is to move that from the Set Up menu tab over to the BCDx36HP scanner menu tab. At least I think it would make it a bit handier to use both if they were under the same tab. Or maybe that's not possible. Either way, it's a neat feature.

I also like the Alpha Tag option to make all names upper or lower case. I find upper case easier to read, especially mobile, so I like being able to convert that over.

Copy QK in names looks interesting, but I haven't had a chance to play with it yet.

I also haven't had a chance to run ARC536 with the scanner actually attached either.

Nice development Gommert, thanks.

I will note that the program still enables all Start Up Keys when I upload a new or updated FL. It's a minor annoyance, but it's still an annoyance that I hope Gommert can duplicate and then fix.

I've been looking at the Quick Key Manager (and Overview). My two cents (and realizing different folks can have different preferences) is this:

The ARC XT has a tab on the very top row for Quick Keys. So as to make the ARC 536 and ARC XT consistent, perhaps ARC 536 could have a Quick Key Tab which contains the Quick Key Manager and Quick Key Overview.

This might be impossible given the scanner's different memory architecture, but the Quick Key Manager only deals with those associated with the active Favorites List in the brower and then just system and department quick keys. It would be nice if one could manage the Favorites Lists Quick Keys in the scanner in the same session (as well as all system and department quick keys).

Can you send the steps to duplicate this? Also in your previous message you wrote you did not connect the scanner yet? You need a scanner attached to upload startup keys.

The quickkey overview requires a scanner attached so it is in a different menu.

I have a 436 now, and have been learning the scanner and the features of the software that only work with a scanner attached.

Here is what I have done when uploading a FL file.

I make sure that the scanner is connected via cable and that I have selected mass storage.
I select "Write Data" and wait for the window to open and ARC536 to recognize the scanner.
From the Upload Data Window I select or check the following items.

Overwrite existing Favorites List
I select the appropriate FL Quick Key, but don't check "Copy in Name".
I assign a number tag.
GPS control is enabled, although I don't use that yet.
I check the Start Up Key number I want to use for that FL.
I check Enable Quick Keys/Service Type.
I then press "Save New Favorite List on x36HP" and wait for the data to upload.

After that I restart the scanner and select the Start Up Key for that FL. However, all FLs load and scan. At that point I go into Sentinel, upload the file, uncheck the Start Up Keys that I don't want to use and reload the data into the scanner from Sentinel.

That's my only complaint with the software, and it may well be operator error, not the software.

Can you send the steps to duplicate this? Also in your previous message you wrote you did not connect the scanner yet? You need a scanner attached to upload startup keys.

I'll give this a try and let you know if that works. As I said, I always have operator error on my list of possible causes. I spent too much time as an IT project manager. :D

Disable the option 'Enable Quick Keys/Service Type' , it overrules the custom Startup key settings.
Also I would not enable location control if there is no GPS connected.

Gommert:

Is there a way of enabling/disabling System or Department Quick Keys through the software? (This can be done in Sentinel).

Also, just out of curiosity, why do you recommend that location control not be enabled if a GPS device is not attached?

Thanks!

I did as you suggested and it uploaded the correct Start Up Keys, but for some reason I then got a "Nothing to Scan" message on start up. I made sure that Location Control was unchecked.

Disable the option 'Enable Quick Keys/Service Type' , it overrules the custom Startup key settings.
Also I would not enable location control if there is no GPS connected.
