some of the state of nj njics sites use LSM which causes simulcast distortion. the uniden 436 and 536 handle it well.

^ This is clear one of those "it may or may not work for your situation"... very system and location dependent....

The G5 handles even better for distortion.

The answer .. depends where you live, they both suck in the front end department.

I agree with others. A TRX1 or TRX2 would be a much better buy.

My 2 cents:
I have the GRE500 and theBCD436.
Both are excellent scanners, however I have to give a BIG plus to the BCD436 because of the GPS location feature. This is a MUST if you travel much. Otherwise it's pretty much a wash. Just depends what other features and operational simplicity you like.

You also have to pay $60 for the dmr upgrade.
