I'm looking at getting the Grove off-set fed omni dipole and it comes with a standard F-connector for the hookup.

The antenna will be installed inside, so I was looking at making the connection with 25-feet of RG-6/U (or RG-6QS) (F-male connectors on each end).

What I need is a jumper cable to convert the F-male connector to the SMA connector on the 396T. I have a BNC-SMA adapter I use with a couple BNC duckies, but would prefer not having to use this.

Universal Radio has some nice LMR-100 4-foot jumpers, but they only have SO-239 and PL-259 to SMA male. An F-connector to SMA jumper would be ideal if I could find one!

I'm looking for the simplest solution, which requires the least amount of adapters. I'm open to other cable/connector choices if they'll work better, but I've read that RG6/U or QS generally works well for receiving, even though its 75ohm.

Try www.fastnetwireless.com. They made me a custom 25' LMR400 cable with connectors of my choice. Fast and efficient company. They also have a number of items on Ebay.

I don't think that F female to SMA adapter is available. Could not find anything on the net.

Me either. I think I'll have to end up using an F-BNC adapter AND a BNC-SMA adapter stacked together to hook up the 396T.

I wish I had more experience making cables/jumpers, but standard crimp-on RG6 is about my limit (I'm horrible at soldering).

Yes, I think that will be your best bet for now untill they come out with that configuration, which I think they won't.
Take care

I have two companies that have all sorts of odd connectors. I'll try to find them before the morning.

I wouldn't attach LMR400 directly to a 396, it will put too much strain on it. I broke off the connector on my AOR8200 in the mobile with a right angle adapter. Same risk with using multiple adaptors.

Get that company to custom make a cable with LMR240 instead.
