I have not yet been to the fairgrounds this year to do any on-site scanning, but I can confirm for law enforcement that they have a patch set up between the following channels:

EXPO 1 - 855.71250 - 167.9 PL
CALAW1 - 154.920 - 156.7 PL
CALAW4 - 460.0250 - 156.7 PL

The CALAW1 and CALAW4 are very low-powered, it's not hitting a normal mountain-top site, more like they have a cross-band patch set up in a trailer at the fairgrounds.

I am definitely hearing lots of traffic on 154.920. From here in Fair Oaks I am not (clearly) getting anything on 855.7125, but it was coming in intermittently when I drove by Cal Expo yesterday. I am thinking that is simplex and not too high of power.

I've been hearing them on 154.92 all last week with a full bars signal at my location in El Dorado County.

855.7125 is shared with California State Parks up in Auburn SRA. It is repeatered at Cal Expo but very low power as to not interfere with Ca State Parks. According to a seargent at Cal Expo the system underwent some changes and is worse than it was before the changes took place.

What about the monorail? Family and I were out and about at the fair and noticed that the monorail uses DMR/NXDN. Would've been nice to listen in as the train we were on supposedly broke down between the commercial buildings this year. Sadly, I no longer own a scanner otherwise I would've sat close to Cal Expo and searched.
