Mine is SN 95003474 with date code 0KHI and has a Uniden SP1 speaker with it.

It powers on with open squelch and no lights or display. Wish it still worked, would love to just have it scanning the local fireground channels.

If anyone has one of these from the CHP that seems a bit deaf on 800, take the thing apart, remove the shield over the receiver side of the unit and check for a cap between the antenna coax center and ground.

Looks like this was added by the radio shop at some point to render the unit less sensitive to 800 cellular intermod. Remember that at the time, cellular was just getting going good, and analog was king.

Making the receiver only hear above 6-7 microvolts apparently cured the intermod from in the car cell phones....

I successfully hotwired a selectone PL decoder in mine once upon a time. Lots of room in there.

Uniden MR8100 Scanner

Boy I sure remember these scanners. Several of our guys had them in their patrol cars back in the day and everybody loved them because they were the only scanner at the time with a more professional look and mounting options. Ours were mounted next to the Motorola Syntor remote heads.

The MR8100 was quite plentiful at one time and could be found in large quantities on Ebay but times have change :(
