Hi guys.

I'm in Fort Kent, Maine - just across the Saint John from Clair, NB.

I'm hearing a pager on 154.5150. It IDs in CW as XNBP267.

I can't track this one down - being unused to the Canadian callsign conventions - and was wondering if that looks like a typical ID and, if so, where one might be able to track it down?

TIA,
Lee

That's not Canadian. Ours are exclusively three letter, three number. The first two letters will be CF to CK, CY to CZ, or XJ to XO. (Edit: I forgot VA to VG, VO, and VX to VY.)

The search page for Canadian radio data is at: Home - Spectrum Direct (look down the page to "Radio Frequency Search").

I couldn't find anything with the various combinations that would work (XNB, XNP, etc) in the Canada license database, but Canada can "protect" certain licenses and mask them from being displayed. Generally these would be police or military.

For what it's worth, KNBP267 would be the Northern Maine Medical Center. Perhaps a typo by the person setting up the CWID'er.

I once saw (heard) a CW ID that came up "T.B.D." for several years. :)

You're right!

You know, I even had NMMC pencilled in as a tentative and I forgot to eyeball that for a partial callsign match when I decoded the CWID I was getting.

Doh!

I ought to have checked that call with K and W prepended for the first character - did run a check on NBP267 but that doesn't come up under Google even with FCC added as a search term.

Thank you, sir, for reminding me that I need to do those little additional things!
