Can you use the Radio Reference website to program the SDS100 like you could with the Pro-96?

I'm still using the Pro-96 here in Florida. I use a program called "StarSoft" and connect to the Brevard County database on RR and load the channels that I want to listen to.
I'm considering the SDS100 and I am wondering if there is a similar program or a similar way to program the SDS100 for Brevard using the RR database.

I've read where some companies can program it for your area, but I'm a bit confused as Brevard has over 500 LCNs on the EDACs system. I also monitor milcoms and Starsoft is pretty easy to enter individual frequencies.

Any guidance is appreciated.

Thank you.

Yes.

The Scanner is updated via the current Radio Reference Database, using Sentinel.

The updates take place weekly.

The entire database is imported to the scanner - then you select what you want to monitor.

You can also add your own programming to monitor.

Well, it's a little of a stretch to think that the SDS100 programs like the PRO-96. It simply doesn't - the memory structure is totally different so how you update your radio must also be different. Yes, Sentinel will do the work of downloading data, but that's where the similarity ends. I would take a look at our wiki based FAQ and read up on the scanner and how to use it. There's an Easier to Read manual and several websites with some additional help...

You can even download Sentinel to play around with it before you actually get the radio...Mike

As already stated, Sentinel has the entire RadioReference database, a copy of which is also in your scanner. You would, periodically, need to write from Sentinel to the scanner, to keep the scanner's data updated (Uniden updates the Sentinel database once a week, barring some sort of technical problem). You can select the Service Types that interest you, then enter your location & a range. The scanner will then monitor those systems & departments that are in the location & range entries you made, and that have your service types of interest.

You can also append systems & departments from the main database in Sentinel, creating one or more Favorites lists tailored to your interests. You can also manually program a Favorites list for systems that are not in the database.

If you are referring to doing a database import from RadioReference (you could do that in Win96), you would need to be a Premium Subscriber. That way, you could use software such as ProScan or ARC536 to import from the RR database. However, those software programs also allow you to import from the database in Sentinel, even if you are not a Premium Subscriber. That would allow you to select only what you want.

I was/am a premium subscriber to RR and this is how I program the 96. I'll look at ProScan and ARC536
Both programs have a free trial period. I prefer ProScan because it has a large set of features, and supports a larger number of scanners in addition to the SDS100.

Any must have options when ordering? I listen to Police/Fire and Milcoms.

ProVoice EDACS Uniden Upgrade Key ?
New antenna other than OEM?

If you plan to get any of the paid upgrades for your scanner, do not pay a dealer to install them at the time of purchase. You can install them yourself at any time for much less than the dealers will charge you. It's a very simple and quick procedure that just takes a few minutes. You can purchase a digital key direct from Uniden for any or all of the upgrades at any time you wish after you receive your scanner. A 24 character digital key will be issued to you immediately for each upgrade that you wish to purchase. Best to get used to your scanner for a little while before purchasing any upgrades.... you'll want to verify what systems are in range that would need the upgrades, and to be sure no issues pop up right away that might necessitate returning the scanner.

myUniden - Customer Product Registration and Support Area

All you do is enter the digital key into your scanner through the menu system... no programming is involved. The upgrades in your scanner will be activated immediately.

When I upgraded a few months ago, these were the costs directly from Uniden.... compare these to what the dealer is charging:

DMR = $60
NXDN = $50
ProVoice = $49.99
