Cannot hear local county

Make sure you have the current Firmware. It could be the issue also. Even if the radio is new, the Firmware might be a little behind the current version.

No, the issue is the radio in that it is not designed to receive simulcast systems. Firmware updates on an non-simulcast capable radio are useless.

If thats the case---- then he wouldn't be hearing the traffic on the online feeds for the Butler County TRS.

It is a scanner programming problem or a simulcast reception problem. If it was working fine before and now isn't.... what changed in the users setup?

Less antenna is better when listening to simulcast with the older model scanners.

Who is it to say the online feed is not supplied by the Department in question with a delay.
The delay would explain how a user would think the scanner is not working because it is not hearing at the sametime as the online feed.

It would be marked as an official feed if it was. That county feed is someone with a scanner.

I am pretty sure that Butler County is not streaming from their center.
I am sure that if they were, they would not be streaming ENCRYPTED police communications.

Some comm centers do stream encrypted transmissions but with a delay, so …

You may know for sure Butler doesn’t but others do.

What ever happened to RIF??? Anyway, the encryption discussion came from me posting that RR shows Butler County LE being encrypted and if the OP wants to listen to that he/she won't be able to. Nothing more, nothing less.

Maybe @Abonster can clarify if they are wanting to listen to LE or not.

Regardless of Encryption--- Butler isn't streaming Encrypted traffic from their Comm Center.

The original post was saying he can hear stuff on Broadcastify but not his scanner....
Indicates one of many things-
Most likely though, it is either a simulcast phasing issue --or-- a chance that something happened to the scanner in either programming or electronics in it.

All Police but Butler County are encrypted, with the except for VA police at butler, VA. I should know I have been monitor Butler County from Butler County since 2005, I watch the rolled out the new P25P2 system live and for a while I hosted the Butler County feed. The feed is currently hosted by some else. I believe it hosted by some with affiliation with the Harmony Fire district, or lease they did when they started to host it, as I was in contact of them with them when they started hosting the feed.

I can also say the feed is delay from what a scanner hears. Depending on where you're at, a BCD436HP can work in Butler County, at least in the southern part of the county. How do I know? I used the BCD436HP alongside the SDS100 oncecI got the SDS100 it while the new system was getting tested, while my old Uniden Bearcat BC125AT ran the feed until the county swapped. Once the county swap I ran the feed on Uniden HomePatrol-2 as it worked better stationary then the BCD436HP. At that time, I used both the BCD436HP and the SDS100 mobile till the Home patrol 2 started having more issues.

I also use it till I got the SDS100, which has been replaced with a G4. I personally do not recommend getting a SDS100. It is an over price pile of junk.

From what I recall when using the BCD436HP it worked when I had in a fixed location but was a bit more spotty when traveling. I do not ever recall my BCD36HP missing calls, more like at the time I could not hear the audio. But I have not used BCD436HP since I stop doing the feed.

I can look for it if I remember and monitor it alongside my G4.

Are you in North, Central or south of the county. Or let me know what fire department/ems you're most interested that give me a ball area where you're at.
Recommendation for scanner from me form best to worst, in southern Butler County, in the following location Cranberry, Seven fields, Saxonburg, Middlesex Township, Penn Township, Jefferson Township, Clinton Township, Jackson Township, Harmony, Winfield Township and Buffalo Township

1. Unification G4
2. SDS100
3. BCD436HP

while the home patrol can work, it did the worst job so I do not recomand it.

I am not a million miles away and LEO expect for butler VA are encrypted. The only in clear none VA leo traffic I heard on the new system since they turn on encryption was one Transmission by a Léo on a non Leo channel on July 13, 2024.
