post to "https://www.radioreference.com/apps/ham/?action=submit" returns HTTP500. Cannot add my callsign to my profile without first adding to DB.

I was able to recreate this by trying to associate an Amateur License to my profile from:
https://www.radioreference.com/account/ham

If the callsign is not in the db used by the profile, it presents an option to add the callsign. The Add Callsign link does returns http500.

Is this a new call sign or something?

The callsign I used to trigger this was an expired callsign (of a family member).
I can't speak for @cjhetzle.
I'm trying to add my personal GSMR callsign. Wasn't sure if there was a distinction between the two types.

Edit: To be clear, this was registered in 2024, so not new in that regard.

I went ahead and disabled that component (Add callsign)

We have people trying to associate nicknames, GMRS callsigns, expired licenses, TV station callsigns, dad's license from 1943, 101.4 FM "the monster's" callsign, passwords, usernames, kids names, dogs nicknames, you name it. The add component was at one point to allow foreign callsigns to be added but we abandoned that long ago.

If you have a valid, current, United States amateur radio callsign, you can associate it with your profile so your forums profile shows you are a ham operator. Any other scenarios - move on, disregard, don't worry about it, no, stop, etc. If you just got your ham radio callsign on Friday, it's not going to be there until a weekly load of callsigns happen, so be patient and don't open 400 support tickets because you cannot on Saturday show the forums community "Ham Radio Operator" on your profile.

If I go to my account from the main RadioReference home page, hit the hamburger menu in the blue rectangle, then select Profile > Amateur Radio Callsign, I see a gray rectangle that appears to have fields for amateur radio license data. Might want to remove the Amateur Radio Callsign option from that menu.

I'm ok with people still associating their United States Amateur Radio Callsign to their profile.

There is a difference between associating a United States amateur radio callsign that already exists in the FCC database, and trying to associate nicknames, GMRS callsigns, expired licenses, TV station callsigns, dad's license from 1943, 101.4 FM "the monster's" callsign, passwords, usernames, kids names, dogs nicknames

@blantonl Using the web interface instead of the mobile interface so maybe I can make things more clear.

If I go to my profile on the RadioReference home page, then select Profile > Amateur Radio Callsign, this is what I see saw (before I changed it this morning):
1775565720784.png
The fields had titles, but no data. There was a broken link to an image. I can't edit anything in the gray area. The only thing I can click on is the "Remove from Profile" button. We learn later that this is possibly due to those fields having never been populated.

If I click on "Remove from Profile", I get a pop-up in Chrome that looks like this:
1775566049696.png
I think a word or two has been left out of the text in this pop-up.

If I click "OK" in that pop-up box, my profile now has a gray box that looks like this:
1775566151543.png

If I enter my callsign and click "Submit", the gray box now looks like this:

All of the data is now correct.

Hi all

Attempted to add my callsign from Australia, VK3VSN and gained the error

"Amateur Radio Callsign
Error Adding Callsign: Amateur Radio Callsign does not exist in the FCC database."

Does the system only allow US based callsigns or can you submit overseas calls also?

It’s currently US only, and even that can be buggy. I got a new callsign and went to update it… says it’s not in the database. It’s neat when it works, but it’s not the most usable feature on the site. Lol

Not to be stickler on this but maybe a note should be added that mentions USA only. Would save a lot of frustration!

It does say further up in this thread that it’s US only. Maybe drop a line to one of the staff members and see if there is a suggestion box for that. I do agree with you. But I got around it by just adding my callsigns to my signature.
