Before I can setup the sentinel I need to have this "Netfirware 2.0" I looked it up in google and someone said I need to activate it through windows.
I followed the steps and ended up with this error (look at picture). What can I do to fix it?
p.s Already tried to reboot and used the given link to look for a solution but couldn't find one.

.NET Framework 2.0 is already (partially) installed in Windows 7 onwards. You jus have to activate it in the appropriate control panel.

This is the video for installation in Windows 11:

Did you try downloading and installing it through Microsoft .NET website?

Yes, didn't work.

Which version of Windows are you using?

10

Pretty sure you just enable it in add and remove windows components. Almost positive it’s all ready in windows

Google the error code for more details

I did, After I activate it, it said i need to download required files and then i got the error message above.

Did it, thats why i had the error message.
Someone said I had to update windows. i tried to update and got another error.
And then I tried just in case a different update option "look for microsoft update online" it worked and then It solved it and i could install sentinel successfully. Thank you all for the help.

After looking at it again, the link in post 2 seems to be a service pack for 2.0, not 2.0 itself. So if you clicked that without 2.0 enabled, I am not sure what happens.

In all honesty, there needs to be a warning/guide on installing the .NET Framework 2.0 system that's needed for Sentinel to run on the Sentinel download page!

Sentinel doesn't do much, other than to say it needs .NET Framework 2.0, and most average users don't know that .NET Framework versions aren't backwards compatible, and think if they download version 7.0, etc., it'll cover 2.0, and find out it doesn't.

(Been there, done that...)

And this goes for both versions of Sentinel, as they are meant to run on any version of Windows (including emulators) that support 32-bit .NET software (first introduced with Windows 2000/Me).

This would solve so many headaches.......🫣

Or...just type in the RR Search bar Net Framework 2.0 like I did when I purchased my new Windows 11 netbook on black Friday. Forgot the step involved because I didn't have a need before to remember it, and Sentinel was up and running in a few minutes. It's been covered many times on these forums over the years so it was easy to find. I just clicked apply, downloaded and unzipped Sentinel set up, and ! was all set.

That is, if you knew to look here first! Not like the Uniden box & manual is going to say, "Check RadioReference for all that you need to know before using this scanner." Usually, the first website they'll go to when getting things up and running for software and firmware is the Uniden website that's indicated in the accompanying box & papers. (Think "newbie" first!)
