That capacitor can stay charged for a LOOOONG time! If you want to discharge it,you can take a insulated long handled screwdriver and short it out against the chassis of the set but be ready for a loud pop!

If it's got bleeder resistors in place, you'll miss out on the *SNAP!* when you short the caps. =(
But DON'T skip that part just because the resistors may be there! "gear" to discharge caps? Like the man said... the "gear" is a screwdriver.

step 1. Place thumb securely on chassis near capacitor.
step 2. Gently touch index finger gently to capacitor plus terminal.
step 3. Jump back immediately after touching terminal.
step 4. Shake hand vigerously while dancing on floor.
step 5. Open fresh can of beer and consume while considering new hobby.

Use a screwdriver you're not too fond off. The current sometimes blows holes in the shank.

Just a FYI...... It's generally not a good idea to arbitrarily short a cap to ground....Doing so can cause internal damage to the cap....It is best to take it to ground through a 1k resistor...... And yes, I too have dammaged many good screw drivers....:lol:
