I had a moment to cruse FleaBay while waiting on a sales man and notice that someone in Austraila is selling a prdouct to split your car FM antenna to the FM/AM radio and your scanner. Has anyone use this or seen it? If it works i would like to use it im my work vehicle. If it doesn't work can someone point me in the direction of something that might. I can't mount an external antenna on my work truck per my employer but would like to bring in better VHF signals when i have my Pro-106 with me.

Thanks

There have been many variants of these splitters made, for many years. There are domestic sources, but I do not have any links handy.

I didn't have ny luck with those splitters.
I tried a few
Scanner reception was worse then the portable antenna.
Also reduced AM/FM reception on the car radio.

Maybe a magnet mount?
Or they make those ones that stick to the windshield with suction cups?

Dont waste money on the splitter.....

The more I read it is a hit or miss if they work. I think I will look down a different avenue. Thanks for the input

There is a mount that you fit over the top edge of a window. You roll the window up, and it holds in place. You then affix a rubber duck of your choice onto it, whether the stock one, or something with a little more gain, such as Diamond's RH77CA as one example.
It will at least get the rubber duck outside of the vehicle, if your employer says no to a magmount, let alone something more permament.

I have a thru the glass scanner antenna... Tram 1199 and it works very well. As good as a mag mount or other directly connected antenna? No. Better than an AM-FM car antenna splitter? Yes. I don't really want to hear stuff two counties away when mobile... More interested in a 10-20 mile radius around my car. And Tram 1199 does that very well. However, some windshields have a high metallic content in the glass so results vary from car to car. I was lucky.., you may not be. But for $15 it's hard to go wrong.
