Well, it's that time of year again.

The following 7 series talkgroups are very active:

7B-TPS11 - has a Radio Room console affiliated (has 76 radios)
7C-TPS12 - has a Radio Room console affiliated (has 89 radios)
7D-TPS13 - has a Radio Room console affiliated (has 70 radios)
7E-TPS14 - has a Radio Room console affiliated (has 138 radios)

Other not-so-common talkgroups with a lot of radios parked on them:

6B-PSU is highly active with 95 radios as well.

7F-TPS15 is identifying as "Gold Team" which is a PSU term, so it's safe to say that channel is a PSU team.

That's a LOT of radios (468 of them, so far). Figure, even if there's one mobile for every portable, you're still looking at over 230 officers. Jesus, that's scary that there's more officers in this area than in the rest of the city!!

TEMS appears to be using TAC B for caribana.

As well as pretty much every other 7 series, Temporary Use TG being used also.

Incredible how many checks they ran... and the fact that most of the people they ran not only had hits, but multiple hits that ran on and on!!!

Well, the festival does tend to bring out the more upstanding citizens of the city of Toronto...

Have there been any shootings yet?

All things considered, this Caribana was pretty low crime. I worked overnight on Fri, Sat and Sun...there were two shootings - one on Avenue north of Bloor and another at Lakeshore and Lower Sherbourne where 2 guns and 2 guys were recovered.

I heard a lot of firearms being recovered in the entertainment district - pretty scary when you think about how quickly things could've turned bad.

As far as I remember, there was far more radio chatter this year than last - tons and tons of cops were in the area; one platoon from every single division.

I heard a lot more activity on "B", and boy was it every busy.

I can't imagine how TEMS would have been able to do this event without the help of St. John Ambulance volunteers. There was so many serious things running concurrently that there wouldn't be enough EMS personnel.

It wouldn't have been possible. SJA has an excellent relationship with Toronto EMS. They're the official backup of Toronto EMS, meaning if TEMS is short staffed or otherwise understaffed, they're able to call on SJA to fill in. Back in the 2003 strike, SJA was running 911 emerg calls.
