LAFD Motor Team 2 is patrolling the hills west of the closure..... They seem to have a problem with LADWP Security getting into the Stone Canyon Reservoir area for a radio check. Perhaps they are riding around all the fire roads in the area as part of their "test"

LA DOT went on Tactical Alert, not releasing traffic officers to go end-of-watch without approval of their regional supervisors.

I suppose it does not help that tonight there is the big soccer game at the Coliseum with the Spanish Real Madrid team that is expected to dram 93,000. Also there is an event at the Hollywood Bowl that requires DOT from 6pm on that two supervisors were speaking about.

That would be a mess even without Autopocalypse. Lotta fans probably from East and South LA, but plenty in the Valley too, I would guess.

I put in some Penall freqs but didn't hear anything. Though I think I may have heard something on 451.8 a couple times. Drove the whole afternoon and no problems at all. No real surprise.

Carmageddon is turning out to be a whole lot of nothing. And the frequencies are pretty dead too. I took Beverly Glen north going home Saturday morning, only added a whole 7 minutes to my commute.
Going the other way, I actually took SEPULVEDA to work last night! Went right past the demolishion and they let me back on at Getty Center, the 405 was COMPLETELY deserted in Westwood on a Saturday night, it was like the city went on curfew after the riots!, I wish the 405 was always like this! A whole 5 MINUTES was added to my commute.
There was a TV reporter at LAX the other night actually telling people to leave 5 HOURS before their flight time! haaaa, this is why I stopped watching the news.

Carmageddon is over for now! They just opened the 405 12 + hours early!

I'd agree the authorities did a great job getting the word out, and the 300,000 daily drivers that use that section of the 405 took heed and planned accordingly.

Seems Angelenos deserve a pat on their backs for collective cooperation for once.

I think the arrest and impound of the Santa Barbara reg'd Porsche (w three passengers) for doing 100+ in the closure about five minutes before the opening the funniest thing I have heard in a while.

I didn't hear about that one. They did pop some kids for riding their bikes on the freeway in the beginning though.

I was amazed it was open today. They saved a lot of time just knocking over the pillars. I heard they got 300k for early finish bonus.

You know what will happen... Now next time everybody will ignore it and then it will be a mess.
