I am not sure I titled this thread correctly. Currently own a PSR800. Will the information that I have on my MicroSD card be compatible using the new EZScan software for the TRX-1? Would save a ton of work if it was.

Steve, I'll try to dig up some links later, but I know this has been discussed on these forums. The gist of it was that yes, you might be able to, but some people had problems with certain things failing or becoming corrupted. Of course, this wasn't with the TRX-1, but the assumption is that the TRX-1 software will be essentially identical to that of the 1080/1088. Import is buggy in general and export is non-existent in the "EZ" Scan software.

Email me through the forum, then you can send me one of your files and I will see if I can load it on my scanner, if you want. That would provide some indication if it will work with the newer scanner.

In the CDAT directory (or any of the CDAT_VS.nnn directories), all files are compatible across models except the ISCAN___.GLB file.

The files in the DB and LDB directories are compatible across models.

EDIT: "models" includes all of the following:
PSR-800
PRO-18
WS1080
PRO-668
WS1088
WS1095
WS1098
TRX-1
TRX-2

Thanks Don! So does that file need to be manually deleted, or will the software overwrite it with the compatible version? Also, I just posted a thread with some ideas about DMR programming and the dwell function. I would be very happy if you weighed in :)

If you're copying data between scanner models, you won't want to copy that file. The target scanner will happily use data that has either changed meaning or default value. This is why people see "weird" signal bars after they copy their PSR-800 CDAT file to a WS1080.

I copy files between scanners all the time. I just leave the .GLB file alone. Don't delete it. Don't copy it.

So, (without knowing this), I copied my PSR-800 file to my brand new WS 1088 and now the "S" signal bar doesn't display any bars -- just "S". Can this be corrected? Please advise and thanks!

You can do a Restore Factory Defaults .. or just delete the file and restart the EZ Scan program.

Please clarify -- If I did a restore factory defaults would that mean it would delete all the information I've copied into the scanner and then I would have to re-enter it, or is there just one area I could restore?

I clicked on "Restore Factory Settings" but didn't help. If I delete the file and restart the EZ Scan program wouldn't that wipe out all the info. in my scanlists? Any help is greatly appreciated!

jimg this is what you should do.

1. Save your EZScan 800 configuration to Archive.
2. Open EZScan 1080
3. Do a Restore from Archive and restore the zip file created in EZScan 800
4. In EZScan 1080 on General Settings Tab click on Restore Factory Defaults.
5. Then set each of your settings in EZScan to what you want
6. Lastly copy your Configuration from EZScan 1080 to your 1080 Scanner and you should be fine.

OK, but I only have the EZ Scan 800 loaded on my computer. Where can I load the EZScan 1080, also does it make any difference that I have a 1088, instead of a 1080? Thanks again for your help!

If you cannot find the EZScan Software for the 1080/1088 on your card you can download it here.

https://whistlergroup.com/pages/ws1088-downloads

DO NOTUSE EZSCAN 800 ON YOUR 1080/1088 SCANNER.

OK, I was able to download the EZScan Software for the 1080/1088, however, I was unable to archive the EZScan Software for the 800. ALSO, now I have an "S" flashing in the same spot the "T" flashes when it is receiving a trunking control channel--any idea what that flashing "S" means?

Totally agree with this. The Restore Factory Defaults .. resets the settings on the scanner to the defaults .. and does not erase your data. I neglected to say that .. you then need to set up the settings as desired after as I assumed that everyone would know that. But guess I was wrong. :D

Jimg, you don't archive the Ezscan 800 software, you archive the 800 configuration. With EZScan 800 open and your configuration open, click on file and save to archive. Give the archive a name. Then close Ezsan 800. Open Ezscan 1080/1088. Click on file and then restore from archive. Restore the file you archived in Ezcan 800. Answer yes to prompts about overwriting. When file is restored to Ezscan 1080/1088 then click restore to factory defaults. Then reset your options. Lastly copy this new configuration to your 1088 SDcard.
