All,
Dredged my 2004 out of the closet and playing around with it again; amazingly enough it still has the memory channels as last used (at least five years ago) and receives like gangbusters. All of my Turbo-Whopper mods working fine too, except. . .
The last time I used this thing was with a DOS computer and the CE-232 worked fine. The DOS computer is no longer around so I'm working with DOSBox on a Toughbook with a real RS232 port. Said computer/DOSBox combination has been used successfully with other radios (including programming a couple of Motorola radios which are sensitive to DOS computer foibles).
The CE232 sort of works, occasionally. I've tested comms between the scanner and the computer and everything works OK, until I get to actually running the CE232V10 program. It goes through the HBOOT10 download business, reading the PER file and so on, but finally ends up with a "Download error - Press {ESC} to quit or another key to continue."
Hitting ESC quits the program, any other key starts the program but there are no comms with the scanner. It's worked a few times, but when I start the program again after it works, the download error issue pops up again.
I've even tried running the initialization sequence to load the processor, but every time it comes back and says "Already initialized" (as I expected).
I'm sure this is probably some sort of timing issue, but I've tried all sorts of different combinations of settings and no luck. I'm usually running 32-bit Windows 7 but I've also tried Windows XP with the same results.
Anybody had any success running the CE232 under DOSBox?
