I definitely didn't expect that move. So I assume if the Ambulance is gone from 11, it's taking 314's old bay?
Also, I have no idea if it was an unmarked for CFD's Chiefs or not but, I did see a Black brand new 2024/2025 Explorer parked in the lot with the other gray Deputy Chief Explorers at 16 the other day when a friend and I drove past. I wouldn't be surprised if all the older Explorers/Suburban's in CFD's fleet are getting replaced finally. (It's crazy to call 2016 old, but it's almost 10 years since we got any of the 2016 apparatus)

EMS got flexed to 20, so 20 is a core staff hall for AHS now. I have no idea what hall became a flex, because 29,33,8,2,1,14,19,24,9 already exist

$80,325,000 is how much money was awarded. How many rigs does CFD intend to purchase because a lot of rigs and equipment can be acquired with that kind of money.

What exactly is a flex hall? Is it just a fire hall that EMS likes to stack up units at?

The summary of the posting said over the life of this contract (4 years, 51 weeks) CFD would purchase 45 Engines (more or less) spread over 9 years (5 Engines a year) and 10-20 Rescues (Techs, Tech Supports, maybe Air/Light and Highrise). 5 Engines must be delivered in the next 2 years.
This all comes down to money of course. In the last 20 years CFD has ordered 39 Engines with Smeal and 17 at one time with Rosenbauer. It really depends on how much CFD is allowed to spend. They do not have $80 million right now, but over the next 4 years and with the money they have saved in the account, it could add up to that $80 Mil mark. Unless it's all smoke and mirrors to drag Pierce into a contract lol

So that brings us to 2 Tenders, 10-20 Rescues (and everything that looks like one), 45 Engines, 4 Stock Engines, 6 Ladders, 4 BTs, 2 FRP's for brand new apparatuses CFD will receive over the next few years. I think we're about to be the new reason behind Pierce's long wait list 😂

Don't forget the 8 replacement Ladders for the Smeal Quints and the 3 odd ball (2 Pierce, 1 Smeal) trucks in the fleet as well!

41 new Firefighters graduated on Friday meaning 10.25 new members per shift. With no new Ladders to put those ff's on we should see most if not all Rescues and Ladders staffed or more 5 ff Engines. Apparently E5008 has been leased out to Kananaskis until there new Quint is delivered and comes on-line

Chestermere Fire Services have made the switch from providing EMR care to the PCP/ALS level of care. This makes their scope of practice equivalent to that of AHS Paramedics. Every firefighter is gonna be PCP certified which gives their rigs the ability to carry ALS equipment. Engine 116 is now a Paramedic Engine pretty much. There is no word if they're gonna get an ambulance to add onto this or not but that might be their next step.

I wonder if CFD would ever adopt this.

CFD could. Seems the FRP's are running with 2 ff/paramedics now. They could start with transporting injured ff's and go from there but that would be years and additional millions of dollars, ambulances and paramedics away. It would be really nice to see though

We've had discussions in the past regarding the matter. To switch CFD from EMR to PCP would be a whole project. That's excluding ambulances.
There would definitely be resistance as I'm sure not every FF would want to become a PCP. I'm not trying to mock any agency but change is feared within the fire service. Not everyone likes change. And hey, I get that.
Honestly I don't see an issue with remaining at the EMR level but I don't see an issue with being PCP either. Just keep in mind CFS is much smaller compared to CFD. To do something like this takes a lot of work.
