After some more looking at the METCAD console ID's it appears that the format is more complex, what I have figured out is this: 490#0** where # is the console number as Cubn already pointed out and ** is TG specific. It looks like 49 is Patrol 1, 50 is Patrol 2, 55 is Patrol OPS 1, and 56 is Patrol OPS 2. Others are still kind of a guess but I think 51 to 54 are Patrol 3 thru 6 respectively.

During today's basketball game, INCIDENT 1 was used instead of INCIDENT 4 (never heard why).

Also, over the past week, I've heard key-up on 453.625 and 453.975 so those repeaters are still active but for what purpose I don't know. I'm keeping them in my scanner for now.

852.800?

The site activity portion of my Pro96com is showing an oddity...

852.800 d (meaning that it had been used to transmit data)

Was this a false reading? Does anyone else show this on Pro96com?

MS Access 2000 database for querying GrantLog files from Pro96com

I attached a simple Access database I threw together to query the GrantLog’s that Pro96com produces. I made queries to search by talkgroup, search by radio id, show unique unencrypted talkgroups, and show unique encrypted talkgroups (which shows a count of how many times the talkgroups were recorded in the GrantLog).

I made this database in Access 2007 but then saved it out as Access 2000 so people could use it in earlier versions of the software too. There’s no data in the attached file--just the database structure.

I’ve been appending my most recent grant log to the GrantLogTable and then changing the name of the GrantLog csv file on my computer so the next time I open Pro96com, a new GrantLog csv file will be creating and I’ll append that one into Access next time to avoid getting duplicates and repeat the process.

Obviously you can use this to analyze any system’s GrantLog files: MDICE, Starcom21, etc. With MDICE being new and the amount of encryption being used, it’s nice to be able to see what units have been on what encrypted/unencrypted talkgroups as well as have an up-to-date list of all the unencrypted and encrypted talkgroups logged.

Encrypted Talkgroups - Radio Usage as found by Pro96com
21511 appears to be a Parkland College PD encrypted talkgroup. this holds true to the pattern that a TG +6 of the dispatch talkgroup is an encrypted talkgroup for the same agency
21512 used completely by CPD radios
21515 used completely by county sheriff radios
21526 used completely by CPD radios
21527 used completely by CPD radios
21528 used completely by CPD radios
21529 used by PATROL 2 department radios (county, UIPD, UPD)
21530 used by UPD and UIPD radios
21531 used completely by county sheriff radios
21536 used completely by CPD radios except by one UPD radio

Urbana Fire and Champaign Fire are now on MDICE

January 29, 2008 - Urbana and Champaign Fire moved operations to MDICE this morning. Paging still occurs on 154.070 which isn't simulcast on MDICE. Fire responses have been on TG 22000 FIRE OPS 1.

It apears that Metro Fire 154.07 and Fire Dispatch TG 22010 are patched at this time. Metcad was testing the patch just now, not sure yet if it will stay on or not.

That last post had a typo, Metro Fire is on TG 22012, Fire Dispatch. Sorry. It seems that the tones can only be heard on VHF but the voice part of the dispatch can be heard on both as well as traffic on 154.07

I seen Fireground 1 through 4 pop up and they’ve all been unencrypted.

Something interesting regarding Parkland PD. I heard on tv cable ch 9 that they have 15 officers on the force and interestingly their dispatch radio is number 4002516. This makes me believe that each of the officers has been assigned a portable. I wonder if they didn’t bother to install mobiles in the cars but I don’t know if they had UHF radios in their cars before.

The basketball detail on 2/2/08 was on INCIDENT 4. Some Assembly Hall details have been on INCIDENT 1 this year. We’ll have to see what talkgroup they use for the game on Thursday and for the Monster Truck Show on Saturday.

Parkland PD cars have/ had UHF and VHF mobiles. They recived new Motorola CM 300 moblie radios in the fall of 2004. I know with CPD they recived their portables first and then started instaling the mobiles so maybe they are getting them latter. On a diffrent subject I have started to see the break down for fire unit numbers. It looks like CFD is 40200xx and 40201xx with mobiles staring around 4020098 (Car 110). UFD apears to be 40210xx. Also the ambulance companies have recived portable radios for the new system to talk to Metcad and fire units. It looks like Arrow has 40900xx series and Pro seems to have 409025x series.

Reviving this stagnant thread with some new observations...

I've seen in meeting minutes on both the METCAD website and the City of Champaign website that it's possible the 8 frequency system will be expanded to 10 freqencies.

I also saw on the METCAD website under their meeting minutes that rural fire is expected to switch to MDICE in April/May '08 (that was posted in December 2007).

PRO96COM news and notes...

Based on limited information that I've heard, I'm thinking this is radio id lineup for the UIPD police cars. I don't know how many cars they have but Car 3 is confirmed and Car 9 is believed to be correct and I've inferred the rest. I've seen numbers in this series up to 4001588.
4001575 Car 1
4001576 Car 2
4001577 Car 3
4001578 Car 4
4001579 Car 5
4001580 Car 6
4001581 Car 7
4001582 Car 8
4001583 Car 9
…etc. b/c I'm not sure how many cars they have

Also, here's a start to what I believe the CPD cars are:
4001174 CPD CAR: 51
4001175 CPD CAR: 52
4001176 CPD CAR: 53
4001177 CPD CAR: 54
4001178 CPD CAR: 55
4001179 CPD CAR: 56
4001180 CPD CAR: 57
..I've heard car numbers from 34-56 mentioned on the radio

I have little info about Urbana PD cars:
4001322 UPD car 66
...Urbana PD's unit 69 is a K-9 car if you ever hear or see that radio id.

I'm pretty sure 4001180 is a School Resource Officer car assigned to 702. I have Car 32 as 4001155 and going up to car 56 at 4001179, I have confirmed most of them but not all. The radios for cars 26 thru 31 seem to be out of order but I think these are mostly Sergeants cars.

Radio Layout

When a CPD officer was having trouble finding PATROL OPS 1 in his radio, another officer said he needed to switch his radio to position C.

I believe TG 21529 to be a SWAT talkgroup. I've seen it pop up a few times when I believed SWAT to be active including today during the incident, which WCIA said SWAT teams were present. I also saw TG 21530 active as well and PATROL OPS 1 too.

TG 24975 and 22013

Heard a weather announcement on 24975 today..."Attention all units monitoring this frequency, Champaign County is now under a severe storm warning..." Storm spotters use TG 21204 "WEATHER" to report to the EOC as well as the local frequencies listed here.

Also, 22013 has been confirmed to be FIRE COMMAND 1.
