Changing Uniden Fireware

There was some discussion about removing the obfuscation on Uniden firmware and someone (not me) was apparently successful at doing it for one model.
My understanding is Uniden uses different hardware platforms for their scanner models, so moving firmware between models will not work. Even when they share the same processor, how the I/O pins on the processor are connected can be different.
The Pro-18/PSR-800/Pro-688/WS-1080 share the same basic hardware platform with minor changes. The firmware itself is not modified. The obfuscation is modified so it can be loaded in other scanners of the same type.
